I was lucky that I found a good nephrologist. I have auto-immune disease of an unknown nature and cause besides having AS and psoriatic arthritis. I have developed nephrotic syndrome in my kidneys. You can lose up to 150 mg per day of protein thru your urine. I was losing 7 grams. Methotrexate was not working any more so I was started on cyclo. They test blood every couple of weeks . It is a trough test done in the morning before the early dose . the ideal blood figure is around 130. My neph has me on a bp med called diltiazem and it allows me to reach the target figure on a much lower dose with far less toxic side effects. Cyclo can take out kidneys and liver. I take 75mg morning and night. I have to stay out of the sun or wear protection as it makes you sun sensitive. I have been on it since Jan and my protein loss has dropped from 7 grams to 2.2 and that is where it has stayed. My neph thinks I will need it long term. I started on a very low dose of oxy only 5gm for the first two weeks . Last night I took ten mg for the first time. Nothing weird but a good reduction in pain and the first good nights sleep in a long long time. Ron.
