OK guys, I have to tell that I had a tiff with my mother-in-law.
I went to the pool and did 3km in 1hour 20mins. I´ve never done that distance before. (maybe I should argue with her more often).

On a different note I read here that some people have problems walking on hard surfaces. I always buy good well cushioned shoes. Apparently bad shoes that don´t support your feet can be really bad for your back. I do not withhold money when I buy shoes- I get what is good for me.
Sue- you basically said exactly what is good for you when you mentioned your winter boots. Maybe you can look for a similar sole for all your shoes.

I don´t know other people´s problems but this has worked wonders for me in the last 4 years. I have really noticed the difference.

Some types that I use are good bouncy trainers (proper running shoes), MBTs are good (but expensive) and shoes that have similar soles as trainers are the ones that I generally look for.

Hope this helps, maybe ask an expert to verify what I say.
