I too am on a cox-2 inhibitor (etericoxib 90mg) and I must say it has been a godsend.
I tried to avoid taking NSAIDs altogether in the beginning and thought I could control symptoms by doing the NSD (extremely tough!!!) and lots of 'healthy' and 'helpful' supplements. I was spending fortunes maintaining this strict lifestyle and I was never pain-free although some days were much better than others.
After chatting to my rheumatologist, she urged me to try etericoxib as it's kind to the gut and I'm so glad I did. I now only need to take ONE pill a day (instead of 20!!!!!!!) and can honestly say that I feel totally normal and actually forget that I even have AS......... Oh, and I can EAT WHATEVER I WANT yippeeee!!!!
