Kaz, I appreciate the sentiment you are expressing. Since the suspect riddled with bullets turned out to be innocent, I certainly feel badly for the sentiment I expressed. But I do not retract it. Had he turned out to be genuinely guilty, I rather doubt this discussion would be occurring. I do not excuse the officer's overkill, but frankly, I wouldn't want to be in the position of making that judgement call. I rather doubt any of us knows whether or not we would respond in any better a fashion.

As for the innocents in Iraq (and Afghanistan and Saudi and Iran and Pakistan), I have been vehemently vocal about how I feel about that. Perhaps not as vehemently here as IRL, as the war tends to be a somewhat touchy subject... but those here who actually know me, know that I am opposed to the way this war is being carried out, and I am opposed to the 'collateral damage' involved on both sides of it. Just as I am opposed to the young lives of the soldiers being snuffed out.
