as a fellow brit I am virtually certain that snotbox would not take offence at a phrase like 'what planet are you on?' .. she might take umbrage but offence, no .. Brits are not generally easily offended.

offence might be taken at the fact that we hold opposite views on this matter though which is all very well and is part of being an adult surely? I am surprised that people would feel the need to censor this type of discussion, why? where does that lead? certainly not to free speech nor democracy

personally I took offence at snotbox's comment that "Predictably, this bloke was innocent. I could have told you that before they even announced it. Happy now?"

Predictably? really? I have seen this viewpoint before: police are always wrong; police brutality; don't trust authority; we are the downtrodden masses; come the revolution ....

.. it reminds me of my early years at university .. anarchy and all that jazz .. and is a fundamental 'socialist worker' tenet

Snotbox, I know you are probably still reading this thread .. people don't 'flounce away' from websites without coming back to see what their last post has birthed and I wanted you to know that personally I am totally against our involvement in Iraq - I believe it was fundamentally wrong and illegal

Take care
