Ah, the dratted heel pain. I once hobbled my way, cane in hand, through a one week cruise that I had been looking forward to all year There are a couple of things that might help. One is the easy one, since heel pain due to arthritis is caused by a shortened achilles tendon, stretch out that tendon every day (my PT taught me this). Lean against a wall, about a foot or so away, hands on wall, and stretch first one calf and then the other, repeat for a minute or so. The other one my sister has had because her heel pain is due to a bone spur - - but it works with arthritis folk too - - and that is a shot of cortisone directly into the heel, a quick fix if you want instant relief that hopefully would last for a couple of months. But do those stretches!!!! I tried all the Dr. Scholl's stuff, ice, heat, etc., but nothing worked but the stretches. We also lose padding on the bottom of our feet with this thing, so that's why your feet may look a bit peculiar.
