If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I solved that problem by moving to Florida, LOL! But I can recommend a featherbed, down comforter, flannel sheets.........and a nice call to your doctor for pain medication!

HI, The cold and humid weather kicks of my flare-ups. I have been like you for almost two weeks. Of all the meds I have, I take two telenol pills and put my hiips on cold pads. Its hard to get comfy but you put one on each hip. Use a good face towel to cover the cold pads. Don't worry, after the area get cold you will not feel the pain and you will be able to go to sleep. The next night I use a heating pad. I alternate between cold and hot. Try the cold pads....you will see that they word. Heck, if they(hips) are flaring up I kick them in the butt with cold pad. That will help a bit. And don't worry you will not get frost bite on your butt. You can turn at night and just place the cold pads on the side ....ok good luck. I find this help when the cold and humid weather comes around. Dan

Well, I'm down here in the south were it is a nice for once, too much rain, a steady 68*,and the cold stiffens any joints(myself) as far as the hip-warmer, I want to know about that body pillow,Pete was talking about. I use 3 pillows to sleep, One in my back,One under my head(side-sleeping-no back or tummy) and one to hold on to--being single has its disadvantages--So Pete,if you read this, more on that body-pillow. ............ Stay Warm and hope you get some relief maybe wanna go to the Tropics next winter~~~~~~~~~Bill

Crazy thing since I've been outta hospital is that I can sleep flat on my back again! And on my sides too! Must be the after affects of the morphine!
Doug Just a thought but they probably had you on antibiotics after the surgery... I know that when I had a problem with nose bleeds and was operated on they gave me iv antibiotics and took away my meds (caused the nose bleed so they felt) but still felt better for about 2 weeks after than I have in 20 years... Gave me the push to try NSD and though it hasn't been complete has cut my meds in half or more... Mike

Hey Kat! So, weather getting you down huh? Yup, I notice it too. My body ACHES when it snows. My suggestions for the winter blues (you knew a Winnipegger would have to have AT LEAST one or two): Be ridiculously overdressed. I mean toque, mittens, scarf. Never mind bomber style jackets - Canadian winter means a jacket that comes to mid thigh at least. Snow pants are an option (although I havent explore that yet myself) but I DO wear layers. At least two on top (helps to navigate warm/cold rooms indoors too). As for the bottom - stockings under tights under jeans - even just to go to school on really cold days. I usually have 7 lectures a day - there's no way I'm starting the day stiff if I dont have too. Forget about looking cute outdoors - warm and comfort go a loooooooooooooong way. It also helps me if I take a warm bath or shower just before leaving, and right when I get in from outside. Might be completely psychological, but I feel *warm to the bone* that way. As for the sleeping, there is one position that really helps me. I sleep kinda on my stomach/on my side. Try laying on your stomach and pulling your (sorest) hip up and out to the side, knee bent. I never explain this well, but it's one of the only comfortable positions for me when I'm really sore. In fact, if that bent knee was on Pete's body pillow it would be even better. Well, not PETE'S pillow, but a pillow like the one Pete suggested. As geez. I'm getting outta here. Hope you find stuff that works for you soon. Love, Jeanna

Hi Kat, The cold weather really makes my AS flare too. I sometimes wish I could just hibernate for the winter. I use my heating pad a lot when the weather is cold and damp. It is almost impossible to sleep at times when your hips are hurting. I also use muscle relaxers when the heat does not help. Hope you get some relief soon !

when sleeping in a bed is not cooperating I just go to the old couch never fails I can always sleep there....I am in a bad flare right now as well but I aint sure if its due to the weather or my wife kicking and hitting me in her sleep..or the dogs crowding us when we are sleeping......try the couch anyway.......oak I am older then I look and I feel older than I am
