If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

OK, folks. I need some advice. The cold weather has descended and I now know for sure that my AS is triggered by cold. yay.
I have two questions:
1. How do I make the effects of the cold lessen?
2. Does anyone have any neat tricks to suggest that will make sleeping easier on my hips? They've both decided that they don't like sleeping, they'd rather make the last hour or so of my night agony. Can't sleep on my back either, for much the same reason. Never have been able to sleep on my tummy. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks guys,
Hugs,
Kat

Hi Kat, I don't know any tips really. But I hate this cold weather too. The only thing I can think of to suggest to you is cuddle up with that honey of yours to keep warm. And wasn't there a post by someone in the womens forum about keeping the hips loose? Freezing in Eastern Washington Pam My boys, Noah & Isaiah

Hey Kat, Cold weather is awesome! 1. To lessen the effects, I go snowmobiling! Gotta love God's country in winter! 2. Donna and I have switched over to the flannel sheets for sleeping! Talk about cozy! Crazy thing since I've been outta hospital is that I can sleep flat on my back again! And on my sides too! Must be the after affects of the morphine! Hi.
I'm having the same problem with sleeping... Hips are killing me. I haven't slept much the last two nights. I tried to sleep in the recliner..but my left thigh and leg go numb. If I sleep on my stomach... my arms and hands go numb.. sleeping on my back and on either side is very painful.. so I just toss from side-to-side and never get any restful sleep.. I am at my wits end today.. I have called my doctor and left a message to request pain medication but have not had a response... I cannot go on like this... I am so exhausted....trying to work at the office is so hard. Im thinking that tonight, I might take some Benadryl or NyQuil to knock me out for a few hours... But for now.. Im just counting down the hours to go home and collaspe...

K I told you about Erics warming blanket, but he also has tee shirt sheets on his bed. They are like the flannel that Doug mentioned, only not so flannel . All kidding aside. I have found that if you are sleeping in flannel PJs, on flannel sheets, you cant roll over....Kinda like the velcro effect Try rolling over and see you self stuck to the sheets... . Anywho.....they are very warm with that blanket. Maybe if you get the deep bone warming going it may be easier for you. Just a thought Hugs Lori

Doug!!! How're you doing? I was beginning to worry 'cause I hadn't seen you around for a bit. If I hadn't seen you, you were going to hear from me this weekend. Hell, you might anyway.
Flannel sheets might be nice, actually. Morphine would be great! Oh. Wait. You sort of have to get that from a doctor. argh.
Good to see you.
Hugs,
Kat

Hey Denise, thanks for posting. It's so frustrating, isn't it. I'm fine for a few hours, but sometime around 5:30 it all goes to hell in a handbasket and I don't get good rest after that.
Of course, now that the cold weather is here, I've begun crashing on my sofa in the evenings again. The last two nights I've been unconscious by 9:00, slept until midnight and then dragged myself off to bed for 6 or 7 hours. Poor Stephen, he didn't know what hit me last night (his first exposure to my winter AS stuff). I think, as long as I can keep myself upright and mobile in the evenings (going for walks and such would be good), I might get better sleep in bed.
I told Stephen in the car this morning that we'd better play scrabble or cards or something, anything to keep me awake until bedtime! lol!
Hugs and welcome to KA!

Hey Sass! There's a heating pad that I want to get that generates moist heat. It's about $100 Cdn., which I completely can't afford, but I think it'll be worth it. Do the same thing as that blanket you mentioned, too.! LOL! It's the image of trying to roll over in flannel sheets and pajamas. You'd take the whole damned bed with you! LOL! Stephen would LOVE that. Not. Hugs, Kat

Hi Kat, For the hips, I strongly suggest a body pillow. My hips smiled big time when I got mine...no more pain at night. It takes awhile to 'teach' your body to keep it in place but it's worth it. Maybe you should consider moving southwest a couple thousand miles...it's still t-shirt weather here:) Take care, Pete "Maybe the problems of two people don't amount to a hill of beans.
