Hi Loz....!
Hope you are doing well.....along with your big fuzzy friend??
I sure hope he's right. Whenever he discusses my condition he states I have RA, Spondlropathy in upperback and severe low back pain. I dont know why he seperates the two. I guess because perhaps my lower back has some "mechanical" damage to it...who knows!! My upper back is where I have the slope of the shoulders though and that pain and desire to want to arch and stretch out my back....and the bug just cant stretch too far without flipping backwards!!

I had the sciatica pain before surgery...it went down the back of my leg on my leftie and would shoot down all the way down to my calf as the day progressed and I got tired. This feels so sore and weak...and my hip pops. I dont know what happened since that surgery...but it seems as if my AS went totally haywire on me and does not want to slow down for a bit.

Take care....and say hello to the family.....

Toodles!

Hi Linnnnnnnnnnnndddddda~

Alas it is morning.....and I have made it ---yahooey!! I used to look forward to bedtime..but when I'm flaring......I avoid it like the plague!!

It is a bit better today thankfully!!
Surprisingly my Rheumy called me this morning....thought I had paged him again...had not. Anyhow he asked if I was okay. I told him I was somewhat better this morning. Morning stiffness is daily....but I know once I move around I will start feeling a bit better. He said if I start feeling bad again, to call the office right away.....so I can get an injection into my hip......YIKES!! Thanks bug no thanks!! The shots dont hurt...he uses small needles....but I sometimes feel like a broken ol' record when this happens. I feel down.....like "Here comes Miss Santos the little Griper". I will try to "ice"it tonight and hopefully it will help out.

Linda.......I must say you make me laugh every time I see that little mad face "icon" that you put up.......especially when you talk about patience.......that's exactly how Gianna looks when she's all huffy !!

Take care.........
Thanks for the chuckle....hehe!

Toodles!

Sorry to hear the pain you are in. If it is pinched sciatic nerve the thing that always helped me was visit to a good chiropractir. Some insurances cover them some don't.

Also I don't ice my posterior, but the lovely got me a portable TENS unit and it and its little pads get strapped to that part of my anatomy frequently. It's called a Century 2100 and it works fairly well at relieving that type of sharp shooting pain or wicked muscle spasm. DOn't know where she got it but will find out if you are interested.

Thanks for the info Cheryl!
My pain is side of my thigh.....it shoots from right about 1"over my kneecap to about a few inches from my hip. And my hip hurts the same way. Rheumy said it was bursitis in my hip last time....and gave me injection and it helped for awhile, but I am tired of injections. You know when you flex your thigh when doing exercise?? That big muscle/tendon on your thigh??? That IS where it hurts. Its so sore. When I bear down on it I feel as if I weigh a several hundred pounds! [shock]

Arthur has a new job, and lucky for us it will be the same HMO.....unfortunately we dont have coverage until June 1st. I have to go get some xrays at that time as well to send back to my neuro. I just have an uneasy feeling that this pain is not going anwhere. It's been just shy of 4 months and the pain is the same.

Thanks for listening to me gripe Cheryl.....

Hi Steve!
I have a tens unit....my insurance managed to cough up for it...those things are pricey.....little one was like 375.00!! Anyhow....I've used it on my shoulder blades....ahhhh....till I killed off the battery and had to "sulk" while battery recharged!!

I hadnt thought about that. I've used it on that leg, but it seems to make it worse....so that sounds like a better idea to try it there. Of course you know....I will have to do this before Gianna gets home....or she'll tell everyone at school the next day how she saw her momma putting bandaids on her "Hiney"....and this buzzing machine. I'm SURE that will go over well with all those PTA mommas !!! [shock]

Take care......

Ladybuggy:

Sorry that you don't like ice. It has been one of the only things that consistently lessens the pain for me.

When I was in the hospital recently, the nursing staff brought me ice all the time . It was a blessing.

I also have noticed, unless I am feeling really punky , that I feel better in a cooler environment than in a warmer one. My spouse calls me her polar bear.

Best regards,

jcwinnie

so your joints dont hurt with the cold temperatures?? I used to love winter-weather....since the AS......I am no longer a Polar-Bug either!

My daughter uses ice-packs alot whenever she injures herself..her daddy showed her....and everytime I ache she runs at me with a giant bag of ice....and I shudder just looking at the ice block!! [shock]

PS.....
love your polar bear look.......
