If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Welllllllllll..........pain escalated to point that I could barely walk without a horrible limb and pain pain pain!! I finally had Arthur tell me to call my Rheumy. He called me back and he listed to my symptoms. He asked if I had gone back to see the Neurosurgeon that did my surgery back 4 months ago. I told him YES....and that he believes that it is Fibromylagia. He immediately told me that I do not have Fibro. He said that is not the case. He believes that I have a pinched nerve and that is what is causing the problem due to the inflammation. He wanted me to come in first thing in the morning. I told him that my HMO does not kick in until June 1st. He said if not to head over to the ER.....but it would be in my best interest to come in ASAP. He thinks I need to get another shot in my hip. He also suggested that I get some ice pack and apply to my "bootie".........yikes!! I dont know why.......since the pain is in my hip and legs. But he said that would help. He's not much of a talker but tonight he really listed to me........guess cuz he was home and had a chance to listen to just how much PAIN I am really in. As for the ice.............shiver......waiting for Arthur to come home in a bit to get the ice pack............I hate ice packs!! But if it might help.......I'll give it a shot!! Take care everyone. Anyone done the ice pack on the bootie or si joints and had relief??? Night............. Toodles! Angie

Ladybuggie, Ya they like to tell me to freeze that 'bootie' to relief the inflammation, samething I have a pinched nerve in the S1 which does create shooting pain but if its like my Hip pain thats right in the bones & joints usually inflammed and the ice works, use it with the TENS unit instead of the Moist heat, try different settings on TENS till it hurts more than Pain and let it work wonders. Have had Fibromylogia coulpe years hard to differentiate from this or that, but nerve pain or herniated ruptured Disc Pain is definetly different from Fibro Pain. I'm heading for a pelvic/hip MRI to see whats new, Docs said same thing goto ER, but hey what they gonna do but refer you to your Dr or give you a Demmorral Shot or Muscle Relaxant Shot for Pain. When I cry when I walk/limp from the hip/back pain I go to ER for the shot. If you hurt like that head to the ER and explain Doc thinks pinched nerve they'll do tests and give you a shot to relax the muscles and maybe something for the inflammation. The TENS is helping....good... Later... Lisa

I had to ice my booty down when I had the disc problem, I felt the pain in my leg - - I mean REALLY felt it - - but it was referred pain, which is why I had to ice down the part that was the cause of the pain. It took the edge off, but I'm like you, detest icing, heat seems so much more comforting, but icing is best at reducing the swelling which, at least in my case, was causing the nerve pain to escalate. Hi Lisa! I survived last night thankfully! I took a Soma......and it apparently kicked in b/c I fell asleep pretty hard....and AS was thinking "FOILED AGAIN.....Ratttttts!" Of course as you can see above the Soma affected my spelling skills!!! Did they do the tender points test on you for the Fibro? My Rheumy did. He said it's RA, AS and severe low back pain, and pinched nerve. I have read up alot on Fibro, and my symptoms just dont match up on Fibro at all. He's never been much of a talker, but he has been able to pinpoint my problems when there was something not quite right. He believes it's a pinched nerve. My concern now is.....I had surgery ....lumbar lamenectomy with decompression and fusion in Jan. 31st of this year....for a herniated disc!! That was supposed to relieve my radiating pain in my left leg. The pain is different. The pain I had in my left leg was more of a pulling down feeling......when I had the herniated disc. I could not even wiggle my left toes!! Now I have had the surgery, and I have just an occasional twinge in that leg, but my right leg is pure torture. It starts at my right hip....then skips down a bit....and my thigh feels like it is in a torture chamber.....muscles being pulled to extremes!! By midafternoon I am in terrible shape and the nights just seem toooooo long! Youre right about the ER......I dont want to go.....they'll ask me who my Rheumy is......refer me back to him after giving me a shot like Demerol and spending about 3 hours in there!!! PLUS my nice huge bill!! My HMO does not kick in until June 1st so I have to try to tough it out until then. I may give in come friday and see Dr. Burch though. I can afford him more than the ER. Going to crank out the tens unit once I take Gianna to school this morning. Take care...... Toodles! Angie

Dan! Youre Mr Anonymous now! Yes.....heard about the rotating. Ive done that with the contrast bath and it helped. It was so late last night that I did not want my "yodel"heard down the street from the cold water hittin my leg!! I can usually tolerate it morning to early afternoon. By then my leg and hip are so tired and in so much pain, I have to sweet talk my girls into giving Momma a little break... Take care...... Toodles! Angie

Cheryl..... Where was the pain in your leg??? Before my surgery....I had pain in my left leg...and it radiated down the back of my leg sometimes down to my calf. It felt like a tugging and pullin feeling. BUT since the surgery...that leg still occasionally twinges but I have some of my "toe"reflexes back! Unfortunately since the anesthesia wore off which was soon after.....that right leg and hip have been hurting terribly and on the 31st it will be 4 months now! They put me on Neurontin...and Darvocet. Both of which I quite because of the side effects. Darvocet made my heart race just a little too much for comfort and Neurontin just made me want to sleep all day and all night. With AS that is a NO no!! The pain is different from my left leg. This leg feels real weak and sore and my right hip hurts along with it. When I stand up it feels like my muscles are being yanked .....my thigh hurts so bad. The Soma kicked in and I sneaked passed the ice by the hair of my chinny chin chin!! Take care...... Toodles! Angie

Hiya Bugs, If he's right and a pinched nerve is the cause of the the pain then he's also right suggeting you ice the area where nerve is being pinched rather than the area of the pain itself. You've probably heard of sciatica? A hideous pain down the back of the thigh? Well that's caused by the sciatic nerve being pinched somewhere in the low back.... I used to ice my SI's, but in my case that was becuase my SI's were inflammed and sore, rather than they were pinching on a nerve and shooting the pain elsewhere. Hope you get some relief soon :)     Na zdorovje,         Loz

buggie, I'm sorry to hear of all your pain. I know when I'm really hurting heat sounds better but the PT said to me last time, inflammation is hot and you want to cool it down. Makes sense but heat always feels comforting I hope you are still feeling better this morning and get in to see somebody. Darn insurance take care and let me know what you find out pleassssse linda

It went right down the front of my leg, from thigh to ankle and oh, yeah, my back was hurting too. But the odd thing was I had no feeling otherwise in the leg, no muscle control, and numb to the touch - - like it would itch and I couldn't scratch it because the "skin" area was totally numb. My right thigh still is numb to the touch, no reflexes came back, and I still get this really weird sensation in my knee like someone is grabbing it , have to check under my desk to see who the rude masher is The only comfy position was sitting, hurt too much to stand or to lie down, so I sat for the better part of six weeks - - too bad it didn't destroy my appetite at the same time, a few pesky pounds glomed on due to lack of exercise, which I have since gotten rid of. Hmm...six weeks to put 'em on, a year to take 'em off. I had muscle atrophy and had to go to PT and then do a lot of exercises once I could feel my leg again. The only way I can describe the pain is it was as if someone was pouring scalding water down the front of my leg and then a deep, dull ache at the same time, which NEVER went away, even when I was sitting. The damage of course wasn't in my leg, it was in the nerve root that controls the leg, which is why I had to ice my back. Cheryl Dogs believe in long term relationships
