Im currently working as a Trainee Accountant. My plan is to get qualified then leave the office one day and work from home. Its a great job jobwise, I enjoy what I do, it comes naturally to me, I can drink all the cofee i want, but its sore on the back/neck/SI joints to the point of being unbearable, but it keeps my kids in everything they want (lol almost)

I also work as a singer in a band. i dont make a fortune, but enough to pay for my "other" activities that i get up to.

Previous jobs included Pig farmer , Wood machinist, carrot bagger and waiter. I was offered to do something for £20 once but I wont mention what on this forum!! lol

I can't beat that one, either! I am the president of a small Junior Achievement office in Texas. We are a non-profit organization that provides free enterprise and business education classes to school kids K-12.

Anyone in N. Texas who wants to be a classroom volunteer or raise money through a Bowl-a-thon -- those are my big projects for the month and I can certainly accommodate you!

Connie, as a reference librarian, you would definitely recognize the name of the company I work for, if I included it. For 14 years, I've been an editor at the leading reference book publisher in the U.S., the one in the big mitten state just to your north. Senior editor now--I dabbled in management and would have had a steady move up the ladder, I think, if not for the AS. After back surgery and the first hip replacement, I decided I was tired of putting myself out so much to get in early and do the other things expected of a manager, so I stepped off the fast track. Might actually try to step back on after the first of the year, haven't decided.

I've thoroughly enjoyed my job the whole time--it's been a great company to work for, and very, very understanding of my AS. We have flex time that means you can start any time between 7 and 9:30 every day, but my bosses have let me flex even more, often as late as 11:30 or 12. Salary was awful to start, but it's good now, and the benefits are among the best in the country. This job--and the great friends I've met working here--have certainly made my AS easier to take.

I had a sideline job list as well...
bird-catcher...yesterday...when my 7 yr old decided to walk her "dove" named Rose. Rose flew up to our high ceiling fan....and I mean HIGH ceiling fan......we tried turning on the ceiling fan....she just hung on like a MAD bird.......my hubby finally came home late last night and caught the bird with a net.......I lost my job as bird-catcher......gladly!

Rednecks cain't garden boy(well we can but most a what we know hows to grow is illegal)! But we darn sure can decorate. Theres the big cable spool we use for the kitchen table and the rubbermade boxes we use for end tables. Oh and then theres the duct taped couch (duct tape comes in multiple colors now). We can't forget the beer can center pieces. No my real specialty is auto parts. Theres the hub cap ash trays, the Delco Rhemey electronic distributors that make fine paper weights and the U springs from your standard Chevy truck that make for a fine rockin chair.

What a diverse group we have.

Currently I'm a Web Support analyst with our Ministry of Health and it's a great job if I can keep it with all the cutbacks coming.
I did work in England, once, for Simpson's Piccadilly, downstairs collecting all the returns from around the world. Cleared 20 pounds a week, whew.
Was in the Hospitality business for 20 years working as a head waiter at a nice restaurant at the end. Owned 2 restaurants after that and that was fun but the hours did me in. Luckily, the nice absentee owners from Vancouver were going to raise my lease 400% after it was due so I had to sell and I went back to school at 39.
Also, I taught tennis at a Rec centre for kids from 7 - 15. That was fun but I was more tired than the kids after each session.

What would I have liked to have done if I had my druthers?
I would have been either and astronomer/cosmologist or an anthropologist (anthropologic-astronomer? I can see it now - "Timo, we got a dig for ya but it's 300 light years away. Pack a lunch") even though I told my parents when I was young I wanted to be a lawyer (now, space law would have fitted quite nicely).
Ah well, at least I can be an amateur astronomer looking for comets if things go right....
