If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I just wanted to tell you about my appointment. He was a very thorough, caring, knowledgeable dr. by first appearances. My husband thought so also He showed me all of my pictures and explained things. He said I have two choices: I can choose to let him put the spine back in place and hold it there with screws and in the other area, clean out the bone that has the nerves pinched. He said he thinks for the current problems in those areas, he can take care of 100% of the pain. Of course, it can happen elsewhere. He said that there are no guarantees about the healing problems. or.. I can choose to take pain pills and buy a scooter. I have to have another bone density done to be sure the bones are strong enough to hold the screws and they have to talk to my cardiologists, etc. If everything checks out, I plan to have the surgery. He is suggesting less than what we expected. It will be about a 3 hr. surgery, 3-4 days in the hospital, 8 weeks of pretty much nothing except walking and a total of 9 - 12 months of total recuperation. I decided that time is going to pass anyway and I might as well spend it working toward being able to take walks, garden, travel, etc. or spend it popping pills and figuring out how to get from here to there and missing out on a lot of life. My only concern has been healing but I am going to fire my best shot and go for better quality of life. Just filling you in. It will be sometime in May, getting all of the tests done and getting it scheduled. Thanks for your continued support. Possi

Thank you Molly. I really had in mind that I wouldn't do the surgery but it just makes sense to me to keep fighting. He said that most people don't hurt as much immediately after surgery because there is so much pain before. He said it is a different kind of pain healing. Makes sense. There are just some things that showed up that the cardiologist has to check out. There is always something isn't there?
I really appreciate your support Molly.

I would agree to keep on fighting. We all need to make the most of whatever time we have left. I now that there will be some hard times, but it is better to keep up the fight then to just give up. I will pray that everything goes well.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I know it has been very hard on you and surgery always makes us hesitant. I have screws and rods in my lower back. A disk had disintegrated years prior so I had to have it fused. It took a whole year to recover. At least he told you the truth on what to expect. 100% less pain...that's always good to hear. We are hear to walk you thru it.
I'll keep praying.

Thank you for your support. I am now trying to not think about it. I should have waited to post it. I have a lot of blockage in my aorta that we may have to deal with and my rheumy made an appt. for me to come in and talk to him about surgery and my internist is doing a complete physical in 2 weeks. I still have blood in my urine which we have been dealing with Lupus kidney problems for the past year seriously and longer than that not as serious.
It may not happen after all. I was in extreme pain last night and today from getting to the dr. and am using my walker. I would love to have some time of being able to work in the yard, take care of the house, do things with the family and travel.
We will see...I do appreciate you.

Thanks Tim. I appreciate your usual support. I won't repeat my previous post but I am not sure it is going to get to happen. We will just take one day at a time.
Hope you have a good weekend.
