((Mig)) We have had a lot of fun at the pie party but evidently with this group you are never too late. I think there is a lot of pie eating going on. I have never had rhubarb. I would take it untried over mincemeat. I love blueberry anything.

Daffodils are blooming all over the neighborhood. Bradford Pears have buds about to burst into their Spring glory. It is coming!

Hi Possi (((HUGS))) Mig

I had homemade custard pie that my Mother in law made yesterday. THAT was a great pie. I also like to get the banana cream pie "Blizzard" from Dairy Queen. I love ALL pies except blackbird.

Mig, if you never had a rhubarb or rhubarb strawberry pie you are really missing out. Tastes great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

Here in Wisconsin some people put a slice of cheddar cheese on top of a slice of warm apple pie. sick

Now you did it Jeff.... mentioning rhubarb with a scoop of ice cream... my mouth is watering. We grew it growing up as well as grandparents. Both my grandmothers made the best rhubarb tort.

yes

(((Possi))) I can't believe you have never had rhubarb pie. Is it not common there?

Daffodils in bloom, wow, that sounds like springtime! I woke up to the sight of a sky filled with huge snowflakes falling in slow motion and I just cringed at the thought of more shoveling but fortunately it stopped before too much collected. I still have about 2 feet of snow in the yard, despite a lot of melting in the past couple of days.

Blueberry, apple, banana cream, and lemon meringue... my prefs after strawberry-rhubarb. smile

(((Jeff))) I have had rhubarb - it is my fave! Homemade custard pie sounds fabulous.

I am not a cheddar on my apple pie type of person. My parents do that - but I am for ice cream all the way.

Just checked back and was surprised to see it was you who started the whole pie thing. Did Alan put you up to it? smile Once upon a time, he tried to steal my apple pie right out from below my fork! lol

We never had it growing up. I don't know anyone that grows it. I have a friend from CO who grew up loving it. It just isn't familiar to me but maybe that is just one of those family things that I wasn't exposed to it. My husband has never had it either. Of course, he has been married to me most of his life. shocked )

The other pies you mentioned sound good. I am allergic to bananas so no banana pie around here. I suppose Chocolate or Chocolate Pecan are our family favorites.

We have really been on a food kick here on the forum lately. :o) It has brought a lot of smiles to my face.

Have a good day.

My husband loves Custard Pie. It is so easy to make. I don't know why I don't make it more often. We just don't make desserts very often.

Jeff, I am glad I re-thought your message. I suppose I will turn the blackbirds back in to the wild. It was taking a while to catch enough. I really wasn't looking forward to cleaning them so I am glad it is not your favorite. They do look rather funny though since we decided to go ahead and pluck them for a new pillow.

Your Bradford pears must be ahead of ours. But I'll check tomorrow on my way to work. We have 4 in our yard, but no windows that view them.

Yeah, you'd need four and twenty blackbirds to bake your pie. There are some trees in the neighborhood that could have that many in one place. Bring a net if you know someone who craves a blackbird pie. Lol.
