Hi Everyone,
How's everyone doing? I thought I would drop in and say hello since it has been a while since my last visit. I myself have been doing pretty good most of the time (considering), and I have been keeping busier than ever.

Ever since being dehydrated during the very hot weather a couple of weeks ago, I have been growing tired of having my daily glass of lemon-lime pop. Ice water is the 'in thing' for me now, and I have already dropped 3 pounds since avoiding the pop. The only problem there is, for some reason the pop used to help ease my colitis symptoms (bloating) and help keep heartburn away. I'll find a way to work around that though. Maybe it was the bubbles lol.

I have been keeping very busy with online classes, helping my brother out when I can, I traveled out of state twice (first time in roughly 10 years), visiting friends and relatives (as usual), and helping someone who has started a forum of their own, and so on. I didn't do so bad while traveling because wasn't in too much pain or anything like that, but it sure made me sleep my head off when I got back.

I've had some bad days though, like my fatigue and my thumbs and SI's hurting more than they ever have, but it comes and goes like most everything else. My Iritis keeps 'trying' to act up too, but luckily it hasn't for a long time now. Overall I have been pretty good otherwise.

Sue, one of our parakeets suddenly passed away. I think she literally got scared to death when she was about to have her toenails clipped. Brenda and I both took it really hard. The other parakeet wasn't taking the news well at all either so we had to find him another friend, who is a white male parakeet with purple edges on the his feathers. They get along great, but the new one is still adjusting to his new home. We don't have a name for him yet.

Take care,
James

HLA-B27+, JRA diagnosis in 1981, re-diagnosed as AS in 1988. Also iritis, colitis, and psoriasis. NSD + low carb helps me. My health makes it hard for me to post in a timely way.

James,

I was so excited to hear that you got to travel and had been doing fairly well and then i read about your baby (bird) I am so sorry! I can't imagine her just being gone like that, it just makes me so sad we are such animal people. I hope the new birdie fits in and helps your lonely one.

Have missed you being here hope you will pop in more I know I need to send you a PM and catch up.

Hugs!

Hi James,

Glad to hear that you had a good time travelling, but sorry to hear about your birdie. frown

The bubbles in the pop are indeed what kept your heartburn at bay - it's the bicarbonate in the soda that alters the pH of your stomach by neutralising the acid... that's why Alka Seltzer works.

With regard to your iritis - one of my patients had dreadful problems with recurrent iritis and after her optho advised her to take a decent amount of liquid fish oil daily she hasn't had another attack... I know you take quite a few suppliments - are you taking fish oil? (I take my 15 ml slurp every night...YUM <NOT>!!!)

Hello James,

Good to hear you could enjoy trips and stay busy recently. Hopefully heartburn and colitis and iritis issues all improve.

Take care and thanks for update.

James, it is so good to hear from you. It sounds like things have turned around a fair bit, and that is great!

Why not name the new bird "The Emperor" since he has a purple fringe (like an emperor's toga). grin

One thing concerns me. "I didn't do so bad while traveling because wasn't in too much pain or anything like that, but it sure made me sleep my head off when I got back."

It must have been very disconcerting to wake up and find your head gone. How did you reattach it? laugh2 Oh, I slay me.

Warm hugs,

Kat

Hiya James!

It is so nice to find a post by you, but aw, I'm so very sorry to hear that you lost one of your little parakeets. I know how sad that must be for you. That was sweet of you to get a new friend to help comfort your other guy.

That is terrific that you had the chance to travel out of state - twice even! I think it is great fun to be in a change of place, even though it can be exhausting. Glad you were able to get good rest when you got back home again. I tend to need to do that too.

If your thumbs and SI joints are hurting more than they ever have, I worry that must be a lot then. Good that it comes and goes at least, to give you spells of feeling better!

Let us know when you choose a name your new feathered friend! smile
Hugs!

good to see you again james! smile

so sorry to hear about your budgie sad

i've always been surprised how heartbroken i am each time i've lost a bird, 2 budgies to different kinds of tumors (a common problem) and our pionus. but we do get past it with time, just takes some time. as we've often discussed, they are family.

Good you got off the POP cause carbonated drinks are BAD for the bones you can google it.
Sugar also causes GI problems so you did a very good thing Sodas are BAD for you. Keep up the great new life style and PLEASE do not start drinking sugar -free that stuff is poison .
