had a tooth extracted and then bone grafted to make way for an implant.

thus took tramadol yesterday.

a few things i want to pass on from my readings.

apparently if one has liver problems, yet another drug that should be avoided.

apparently if one mixes tramadol and a muscle relaxant (some other drugs as well), one risks having a seizure.

and of course, LDN will block the, or at least some of the, pain killing effects of the tramadol.

yesterday i really needed the tramadol for the pain, so i took it, and didn't take any LDN or zanaflex while it was in my system.

today decided to do without the tramadol, still pain but don't NEED the pain med like i did yesterday. and want to get back to the LDN and zanaflex. the LDN should help my body deal with the inflammation from the tooth extraction and bone graft better. and kinda need the zanaflex for multiple reasons.

but wanted to pass on to others the potential things to be aware of if anyone wants to take tramadol.

if there is anything else i should be aware of concerning tramadol, please let me know.

i did ask the pharmacist about the tramadol and my elevated liver enzymes.
also asked him about the tramadol and compatibility with all my other meds and supplements.
but he couldn't really answer my questions.

so i did some googling. then erred on the side of caution giving up the LDN and zanaflex yesterday.

also was reading that tramadol, like the narcotics can be a problem to come off of (if taken for an extended period of time). i was only given 2.5 days worth of pills. opted to take only 1 day's worth. not for this reason, but for all the ones above.

Tramadol is a pretty good pain med, but one does need to be careful with it. Makes me itch like crazy, and feel really 'drugged' up even with one tablet. Don't take at all now - and haven't for a number of years. Paracetamol/codeine mix is good. Works without horrible side effects, though again, I don't hardly ever take.

thanks molly. was good to test it out for when i might need something in the future.

wish i could take codeine, but it makes me comatose, truly. took it once in my early 20s. slept straight through several days while on the drug. stopped taking it before the pain subsided just cause i was bored with sleeping so much. besides, did nothing for the pain, just made me sleep. found out years later that i'm probably low or missing the P450 that processes it to the morphine like compound that works on the pain.

the tramadol wasn't terrible and if i weren't already on so many other drugs and supplements, it probably would have been no biggy. but elevated liver enzymes, zanaflex, and LDN made me nervous to take the tramadol any longer than absolutely necessary. today only really painful when moving around, blood flowing a bit too much. so trying to just be still, as much as possible.

plus sleeping yesterday all afternoon and night and today all afternoon again. one of the best ways to heal. tramadol may have been responsible for that ability. though i didn't feel particularly knocked out, did feel like doing anything more than tv watching, like reading a book would put me out.

ah well. at least trauma heals, unlike chronic disease.

I occasionally take Tramadol on "bad days" but only about 1 every couple weeks, seems to work pretty well and I'm more functional than Vicodin or Codeine. I found it interesting that my dog had some minor surgery and was prescribed the exact same drug and dosage I had. The vet prescribed 2 50mg at a time, I'd be afraid to take more than 1.

They certainly make things feel better but I worry about dependency so I make sure I'm really hurting before I take one.

Tramadol is a NON narcotic but I guess one could still become addicted to them..I have been on them for years and take 50mgs 1 to 2 at a time at least 2 times a day if I dont need them I dont take them but its good to know Ihave them if needed.

They are harder to come off of...I ran short and missed a day or two and had headaches, chills, ect. I had to quit the 50mg pills and go to the extended release pills when I was working. I like the extended release better but its so expensive. I may end up going back to the regular. I take 1 100mg and 1 200mg extended release a day. It is a good pain pill for me even though I found after taking it for a week or so it mainly takes the edge off instead of killing the pain. My doctor attributes that to elevated inflamation so your results may vary.

HLAB27+ A.S for 2 year. Humira, Enbrel, Simponi all tried now moving on to Remicade. Meth, sulfa, tramadol, etc...

Tramadol made me itch and feel really dizzy and nauseous. The same with codeine minus the itching. I'm yet to find a drug that helps or doesn't make me feel ill. Completely drug free at the moment and heat and I've make no difference. I'm pulling my hair out! (not literally)
Not allowed anti inflammatories due to my kidney condition frown and the doc is reluctant to give me steriods at a young age.

took the tramadol again when they put the implant in. don't know how much tooth pain i'd have been in without it, but as said above, "took the edge off" vs true pain relief. maybe a little bit better than tylenol. and really didn't notice the arthritis stuff to be better on the tramadol than off it. no real negative side effects, but also not much positive effect of the drug either. maybe cause i take LDN? though did space them far (enough) apart or so i think. well, "edge off" better than nothing at all.

first time i took 3 of the 10, second time i took 7 of the 10, both over a few days period of time. so when i get the final work done beginning of january, won't even need a new script, can just use the drugs i already have squirred away.
