Beloved,
I have been in a lot of baptisteries, and baptized hundreds of people in lakes and streams and rivers. Ours, here at church need cleaning occasionally; washing away all the dirt from the soul leaves a scum. Well, I ambled back to the small class room, turned on lights as I went. Noting some were out... I skimmed the water a bit and noted that we were down about 4 inches on water so I got to my knees; (that was harder than you are imagining...) reach out for the faucet with my left hand, all the while leaning my vast amount of weight on my right hand and arm. I am now perched over the steeps going into dah agua. It was a pretty good stretch for a squatty body! Then it happened, my left leg became a giant charlie horse; and my right leg followed down the same path. within seconds both of these horses were running full speed and I was sliding into the watery grave of the baptistery. cripes Since I was not thirsty, I shut my mouth hoping that my voluptuous chest; would hinder me sliding down the steps to the bottom of the tank. The charlie horses are at full stride, I want my momma and begin thrashing about trying to straighten my legs,; yet not push myself into the water.. My head is below my waist; my legs keep trying to straighten, which would thrust my rather round shape into the tank.
All hell, did not break lose, but my previously saved soul was in a conundrum. I always leave me keys by the baptistery, so that I don't go home and leave the water running. Now I know why I had also taken my billfold (man's wallet) and laid it beside my keys.
My watch is water proof..... My hair dried.
But my poor shoulders feel like they have just lift 220# I wonder why?
I will not avoid the baptistery, I will not forsake its cleaning; but I will exercise those horses next time: before the cleaning starts.

Thanks for reading. I love this place because of the mighty fine people that are here. I am too short to try and squeeze you into my mold; but i do encourage all of you to be a good friend to others and ask if ya need some hulp, K

I would avoid that position again unless you feel the need to be baptized again. Ouch. I'm sorry that your are hurting. Our church empties it out between baptisms. We always fill it up with nice clean warm water when we need it. We have a cover to keep everything clean.

Hope your not in any more pain.

So great, Lon, filled with inspiration, especially chuckled at the part about keeping your mouth closed underwater because you were not thirsty, good thinking there! angel3d

My Dear Sweet Donna,
Here in Wyoming water is a premium. The worst sinner has to go last.... We must remodel and get a one person, our is currently big enough to baptize a small nation. Plus, it is usually just hardness, no water softener. You must think I live in a modern community? lol...

Nice to see you again. do you miss the snow??
Will Arnold get his own motion picture company?

Tell me, my movie friend, is that a guppy bowl or is that my little round face with a halo? lol...
You always make me think and you always make me laugh.
Ah, I love it here

What's this about an indoor batistery? I thought the Wyoming way would be to cowboy up and take the plunge outside in January confused2 You've shattered the image of tough Wyomingites. Glad you were not hurt but suggest you DO avoid the baptistery...a trip to the bakery would be much safer yes

oh dang it, Lon. I'd have taken the plunge too, when those horsies get going at full speed nothing else comes in the way of straightening those babies out.

Good for you for getting after some spring cleaning in January. Way to go get 'em. he he he, thank you for the good chuckle!
