If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I am on SAAS 500mg 4 tablets a day (Suflamizine 2 tab in morning & 2 in Night) & I usually drink once in 1 month or once in 2 months when I go deep into forests to watch bear, elephants, tiger and just relax. (The last time I drank was on 29 & 30 Jan), usually before drinking I stop SAAS tablets 24 hrs before I start drinking and start SAAS tablets only after 24 after drinking. Now here are my questions, appreciate if you put your suggestions, exp, views and answers in points (just a humble request):
1 - What to drink? I tried everything one by one Whiskey (neutral), Vodka (felt neutral & better), Rum (bad), gin (bad) & Beer (very very bad).
2 - Can I drink Alcohol while having SAAS med? (if I reduce from 4 a day to 2 a day)
3 - How much can I drink? (I usually drink for 2 days when I am deep forest and finish about 250ml each day slowly take the whole day & totally 500ml for 2 days and then I don’t drink for around 2 months till again I go to forest)
4 - Can I eat fish & chicken with Rice or Noodles or What else????
I just have passion of going into the jungles for a long time now and used to trek a lot (though it is not allowed I just love the jungle) but from about year I just go to TRIBAL village in the middle of jungle as I have some friends there and watch the wild animals as I can't go on trekking, the place I go to is called Nilgiris and I don’t think I can stop my self from going there as I think of the place more than anything,
Please give me your valuable advice as I am planning to go in 2 days.

Sounds like a very cool trip. Sorry I can't advice on the alcohol with medication, as I am not familiar with that medication.
But I love to go camping and wouldn't want to give it up either. Can you go without drinking alcohol? I live in California and have a recommendation for Medical Marijuana, which is very relaxing. I don't smoke it because that is very toxic, but I use a vaporizor, and it works great.
Hope this helps. You must go and have a great time!

Wow ............ how did i miss this ALTERNATIVE - thanks ;-).
You see the place i go is an interior and i usually accompany my firends (who are doctors), lot of tribal people there smoke GRASS (low end of a plants which gives low similiar feeling), previously on many occasions i myself have advised them not to smoke GRASS.
Though all this while i have never tried if more out of fear that i might get addicted, i am sure i need to re-think or at least try it - not sure but it sure is an alternative ;-)

Hi Manju - I have been on SSZ, had to come off it as I thre appalling side effects.
1 Beer is full of starch. Don't know about the rest of the drinks you list. I don't drink beer, nor rum, nor gin, nor whisky, nor vodka - oh dear, how boring of me. 'Smile'! I do drink red and white wine, champagne (my fave but gives me LPRG/Reflux) and Bourbon. That's it.
2) Alcohol and SSZ: consideed a no-no as the SSZ 'can' effect the liver, increases enzymes - that's why you have a blood test every one (or two) months. Alcohol effects the liver, or, 'can' effect the liver. The two in combination are not considered happy bedfellows! Suggest it best to ask your doctor.
3) Basically answered above in 2. But the occasional glass? Don't know. Aint a doctor.
4) Rice and noodles are starch. Chicken and fish OK - depending on how they are cooked of course. IF covered in a crumb or a batter, then will be starchy. But know that others with much more knowledge than I will chime in.
Good questions - might be others who have the same questions but who have not posted them...terrif, well done.
I lived in India for 7 years, but never got up to the Nilgiris. What a wonderful experience. Take care.

Hello Manju I don't know about the meds, but WOW how cool that you can go into the jungle and see bears and elephants like that I can only imagine how amazing that must be! (it's all cows and sheep round here... not quite the same thing!!!) Are you sure drinking and relaxing is a good idea around tigers??!! LOL!

Here is the link to some of the photos which i have personally shot. http://picasaweb.google.com/maazz76/Photos_Masngudi?authkey=Gv1sRgCPXj37DHxfWQKg&feat=directlinkI know it is dangerous, last time i went on 28, 29th & 30th Jan, 2010, i could drink - all i had in 60ml each day thats it as there was elephants everywhere more than 15 around the village and on 30th when i woke and came out of the house in the veerandah at 4:30am in early morning with my friend Swinden i saw tiger 70feet close and we just walked back into the house. But i love the place with wild animals around .... infact there are so lovely better than some humans and surely not greedy ;-)

Manju, How amazing. I can see why you keep wanting to go into the jungle. Thank you for sharing your photos. I am on SSZ, the same dose as you. (Also on Enbrel) Occassionally I have a glass of red wine. I don't stop the SSZ before having the wine and I make sure that I get blood tests for my liver every month. Have a great trip.

Hi, Manju:
I went to Ooty but never saw any tiger!
Please do not take sulfasalazine and stay out in direct sunlight too much or drink anything with alcohol. The drug is a poison your liver must remove and the alcohol--same thing, too much competition for liver.
You need to take 1mg folic acid and I hope the Sulfasalazine is enteric-coated; an order of magnitude more effective for AS than uncoated drug.
Can't You have fun in the jungle without alcohol? Thums Up doesn't do it?
Better to eat fish and chicken than any rice or noodles--eat fresh julienne cabbage with cardamom or something like that.
Beware tribal food--roots and tubers!
Be HEALTHY, John

thanks a lot for the info, really appreciate all of you here, have started feeling like a family here.
Anyway way John - good you have been to Ooty, but there are so many things near by, infact Ooty itself is commercial place but around it is fantastic - like Kodanad View Point (you can google image it), parsens valley, Masinagudi etc ..... and this is the reason i dont want to go to anywhere else in the world to work.
Yeah i have decided no more Alcohol drinks but i will sure have some wine and ............. guess i am going to have some alternative to Alcohol which is very local and pure and good for me (hope you got is else look up my 2nd reply in this same post) ;-) ;-) ;-)
