Kat, that is just AWESOME news! Good for you, and good for everyone else who will have the pleasure of working with you.
Just tonight my brother's new play opened up, and he--and the entire cast--received a nice review in a local paper. They are doing Carol Burnett's autobiography, the name of which escapes me even though I just read the review not more than a half-hour ago. I hadn't heard of the book before, but apparently Ms. Burnett had a very tough childhood thanks to alcoholic parents raising her in a poor neighborhood. The book--and thus the play--use a child actress and one portraying her in her college years to tell how she overcame all that adversity to have the dazzling career she did have.
Good luck with your production, sounds like it will be a lot of work!

Hey all, thanks so much!
I wish I were allowed to videotape the show so you could all see it. Unfortunately, this company takes copyright law to the nth degree. Won't even videotape for archival or educational purposes, which is allowed under existing copyright laws. I can't even take pictures of my own show for my own records... not during performance anyway. But never fear, somehow I'll pull something off. I managed to take some 200 photos of performances of "The Heiress" so I could put a show photo CD together as closing night gifts for my cast. Thankfully, my camera has a setting for taking pictures at performances that doesn't require a flash. I might get my sweetie in to the final dress rehearsal to take action shots, so I can concentrate on the overall show. We'll see what I can manage.

Now you have me all pumped up . Where do I audition. I would love to break records and vases couldn't I do more then 1 a night..Seriously I know that you will do great and the show will be a success. I really would love to see it and one of these days I will get to see one I promise.

This is totally awesome, Kat. So pleased for you, and there is nothing like having a pet project to focus on. Would love to see pics if possible.... the CD idea for your cast sounds like a wonderful idea.

Thanks Val, Tim Jeffery, Maggie and Kurumi. Val, I'd love to have you audition. Unfortunately, we can't afford to pay your travel costs.  Maggie, the show goes up in the middle of November. So, I have about six months for prep. One of the things I need for this one is a portrait of the title character (in the style of Speicher - another thing to thank the playright for  ). Can't do that until I've cast the role. Not sure how to handle this one, but am thinking of contacting local artists and having one of them do it in exchange for their work being displayed on the walls of the lobby at the theatre.
