Hey Micki, I'm so happy your dad made it through that ordeal just fine. That gives me hope.
You know, it was almost a year to the day that my dad was in ICU last year. Crazy guy. He must have nine lives or something.
I'm hoping that life gets better for everyone from now on. smile

Thanks Kevin, I can sort of tell you're a pet lover too. lol Beautiful pup you have there. My poor cat has been to the internist, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist in the past month, and has 2 radiologists reading all his imaging tests. It's amazing that I could get him in to all these specialists within 24hrs because it's private vet care, but I can't get myself into the doctors I need. The specialist vet clinic here is just amazing and the care is incredible. Hope you're feeling well these days. hugss I have to pop in here to KickAS more often - I get a kick out of your and Alan's bantering. You guys are too funny.

Thanks Rumble. I do need a reminder to take better care of myself. I know I should be eating better and trying to exercise more.

Dow - I LOVE the reading feature on Macs. I've used it before. And yes, I'm a pro at figuring out how to adjust light settings on all screens including the tv too. It's better when I sleep all day and stay up at night. Kind of like a vampire. Maybe that's how the whole porphyria-vampire disease association started. I won't worry about it unless I start growing fangs and howling at the moon though. tongue4
I think the good thoughts and light are working - Maki seems to be hanging in there. Thanks so much!

Hey Tim, I thought about your dad too last night when I was up way too late worrying. It's so scary that we have all these antibiotic resistant strains out there. Thanks for the prayers. hugss to you and your family

Megan - I so appreciate when we share our burdens here. It helps us all feel like we're not alone.

Prayers for your father and healing. I just talked to someone who went through this - it was very painful. Prayers that he can rest and feel the love of his family there.

I totally understand the love for your pet. My dog has been my closest companion through my AS. She knows what to do when I'm hurting. After taking her for a long walk this afternoon, I came back feeling tired/weak. She popped up on the bed, draped herself over me, and laid her head on my chest and just sighed. We just rested like that for over an hour. She's healing.

Also sorry to hear about your boyfriend's stress. AS and like disorders put a huge strain on families and relationships. Don't blame yourself - it should be listed in a spondy's long list of symptoms. Over Christmas, I had a bad flare while visiting parents. I thought by the end, they were ready to toss me out the door. Later, my mother explained that it wasn't irritation or anger - it was just worry!
