Hi All,

I am hoping Megan won't mind me posting this, she has been so stressed out and worried about things but she let me know that her Dad is in the hospital with emergency surgery and it is serious.

I will let her decide if she wants to explain but I really feel like she could use some support from all of us..she is so dear to me and one of the sweetest people I know and she has just had more on her plate lately than anyone deserves.

Please let Megan know how much we care and hope her Dad does great during surgery and will be fine.

Hugs,

Lisa

Lisa... you're the best. Thank-you so much for caring so much about me. It means so much to me that you're sending lots of e-hugs and prayers. They must have helped because my dad made it through his surgery, now we just have to hope that the recovery goes well.

Thanks Wendy.
The surgeon has just said that my dad is dealing with diverticulitis, and it seems its perforated his small intestine. It's created a pretty bad infection, as you'd imagine, but he seems optimistic that the antibiotics and drainage tubes in him (ick) will be enough to get him healed. I cannot believe all the freaky things that have happened to my dad in the past year - it was Feb 15 of last year that he took a fall off the roof and had a massive head injury. This is the guy who has never been sick in his life, other than the odd head cold.

I've been going through a very, very hard time, and I'm getting pretty depressed. My health is pretty much horrible and my doctors each keep telling me their own opinions on what's going on... most think it's porphyria, but my neurologist disagrees... so I'm being referred to more doctors.. another internist, and a hepatologist too (I'd never even heard of a hepatologist until then). More 5 month long wait lists. But they all seem to agree that whatever this is, it's chronic, and until we definitively know what's going on, there's no treatment. I think this has all been too much for the bf to handle, since he's a "fixer", and he can't fix me. He's been away on business for a couple of weeks, and we've hardly spoken. He's avoiding me as much as he can. I can't say I blame him. If I had a choice, I wouldn't want to deal with this either. I haven't been very much fun lately, and I certainly haven't been myself.

Adding to it all, my cat is so sick that I'm not sure if he'll live for much longer, and I'm incredibly attached to the silly little furball. That's been draining me in a big way. It's crazy how you can care so much about a pet.

It's also been hard to get on the computer sometimes because I'm still very photosensitive, to the point I can't tolerate any light at all. I'm still at least 6 months away from seeing the neuro-ophthalmologist for that. The neuropathic pain is so bad that I'm up to ridiculous amounts of morphine now; I wish I knew how to slow down the progression of the neuropathy. I keep trying to stretch and exercise, and get out in the sun and walk every day, but the fatigue just overwhelms me. Sometimes it feels like its an effort just to breathe.

There's all kinds of other things going on too - seems like every day something else happens. I'm very, very stressed... but I know things could be worse, so I'm trying to keep my chin up. I don't know how my mom keeps it together and deals with everything. Just like Lisa too. smile I love them both and admire them for their tenacity. There's actually many people I admire here at KickAS, and I draw alot of strength from so many of you, and your stories. Thanks to all you guys here - you keep me going. smile

Lots of love and hugs hugss heart

love heart and hugs hugss on this end as well!

i know things will turn around for you, they always do, so just hang in there til then, and in a tenacity competition, i think you would be a very strong competitor rainbow

it sounds like you have all the best doctors working on this, concerned about you, believing you, and motivated to get it figured out, so, in time, fingers crossed yes

and good wishes for your dad as well angel3d

as for kitty, so sorry. hug i know what you mean about loving them so much. i've loved and said goodbye to a number over the years, and its never easy. but they bring us such joy. roll i can say that cause mookie is a sleep, so nice and quiet, not being all crazy like he often is. smirk2

Oh Megan - So darn sorry to hear this news. T.G. your father is coming through that difficult surgery - what a blessing they caught it in time. Perforated bowel...eeeeewwwwww

As for you my lass. Pray those doctors of yours get to the bottom of all those problems of yours, get you on the right meds and that you come through soon.

Poor kitty. Hate it so when our small furries are sick.

Prayers winging their ways over for ALL of you - and more power to your mother - 'Steel Magnolia' springs to mind: she and you, both!

Surely do hope the BF is able to get a grip on these situations. Difficult time for you my hon - be stalwart strong. With you in spirit.

Love and(((HUGS))) my dear. hugss heart hugss

(Thanks Lisa for posting.)

Geez, Megan. I hope 2010 ends better than it began. It sucks big time that you have to wait so long for doctors to agree on a diagnosis.
My dad had a scare last year with diverticulitis. He was on coumadin and plaquenil(i think) and he was bleeding like crazy. It was very scary for us. Once he was off the coumadin, he got much better and is doing well now. I'm sure your dad will have a similar outcome.
Sorry about your cat.
Thanks for letting us know how things are.
