hi lucy,

guess it depends on what you need done. for me its triggerpoints and myofascial pain, soft tissue inflammation (tendons, ligaments, muscles), SI inflammation, muscle spasms. for these things, ultrasound does help me.

what do you go to PT and chiro for, if i may ask?
similar things? or something different?

Humira (still methylprednisone for flares, just not as often. Aleve if needed, rarely.)
LDN/zanaflex/flector patches over SI/ice
vits C, D. probiotics. hyaluronic acid. CoQ, Mg, Ca, K.

yesterday i used the US on a quad muscle (when i woke up before i even got out of bed it was hurting (not in the good "i used it muscle pain sort of way" but just like the tendons do, like it was pulled)) and today when i woke up it was better, so it seemed to work on that too.......maybe. sometimes things come and go on their own, and this quad muscle is definitely one of those things that has done that repeatedly for the last year or two. in the past i just iced the heck out of it if it was too painful to walk. thought i'd give this a try instead. faster and easier to get the same effects if it works. as of now, i think it had a positive effect.

[Dean, rocker shoes really helped me a lot, there are cheap versions, I think Sketcher makes them now... I refer to MBTs and Chung Shis.... I used to be barefoot 24/7 and when the planter fasciitis set me back (for months), I put these on first thing in the morning... I haven't had a problem in 2 years...]

and no problem giving advice on PF here, all advice is good! i've thought about those shoes but haven't tried them, maybe i should try them out.

I don't know if they provided enough support to heal, or it was a coincidence that after 6 months of walking like the wicked witch of the west my feet suddenly got better when I got the shoes.... but I haven't worn them since my feet stopped hurting (they are hideous ugly and I had to wear socks because the straps were very uncomfortable....

I read about them a while back, but thought they were just another "earth shoe" fad. I never thought they might actually be helpfull. I'll check them out.

I struggled with plantar faciitis about 5 years ago. I was told to "ice" it everyday after exercise or walking on it etc. up to 3 times per day (bag of frozen peas works great). I also had to do gentle stretching of my ham string by stretching forward while flexing my foot several times throughout the day. I also took advil (this was pre-AS diagnosis.)

It took soooo long to heal, but after 12 long months it finally went away. I also had really cushy heal cups that I had to wear in my shoes (spencos).
