Well here it is guys...at 2pm CST I should be getting this cast off for good..I can tell you I am torn between anticipation, excitement, and scared to death!! LOL.. I will be bringing both of my boots I have worn it the past.. I will come out with one of them.. And from what I understand I will be instructed to slowly start putting weight on this leg.. A little at a time.. I just know it is going to hurt like HELLO.. Oh man.. Imagine not walking for two whole months.. I am sure my legs are weak and I will get frustrated.. But I think it will not take long for the strength to come back.. For me and my biggest concern is my crazy way of pushing myself so I am going to have to keep myself in check and not over do.. OH MY FRIENDS!! Please keep good thoguhts for me today.. my tummy is doing flip flops.. I will just keep thinking that someday soon I will skip again.. Right Lon.. I will skip and skip and maybe even jump rope and play hopscotch... ha ha ha.. All this after a good shave and lotion of the leg (yuck I am sure) and 8 months of rehab.. Gotta do it!!
Love Ya All!!

Peace,
Tamara

HI,
Sounds like progress!
Two things- many of us do push our sleves..
Pace yourself my friend...
I shud make a video of me skipping, just so ya wud know
what not to do. I would probably make funniest home videos. In fact I think I will take my thick self outside and skip right now, see if I still can.
You made me smile this morning!
You are in my thoughts and pryaers. Get well!
agape'

THIS IS GREAT!! Cast is off and yeah there is a little pain but only when I move funny and too fast..I have 6 inches lifts in the boot which makes things rather awkward but I am on two feet!! I can bear weight as tolerated and take off a level of lift every 5 days.. I am using cruthches and not putting a lot of weight on it at all but just the little bit I am is a huge relief for the other leg that has been abused for 2 months!! My goal will be to be one crutch by Sunday no cruthches full weight bearing by Tues!!!
OH YES HAPPY DAY!!

Fantastic Tamara! When I broke my leg ten years ago, I had surgery and a metal plate put in to put the four pieces of bone back together. No cast because of swelling and no weight bearing at all - not even a touch down for balance - for four months. By the end of four months, my good thigh was four inches larger than the thigh of the injured leg! I had to increase weight bearing gradually over about two weeks and then used a cane for several months until the injured leg had recovered most of its strength.

What you're dealing with sounds very similar. I'm quite sure you will make amazing progress and will feel like I did - which is that each day you can do more and more and feel alive and capable. It didn't take too long for the muscles to rebuild and both thighs are the same size again.

Don't overdo it and send yourself backwards. The best of luck going forward.

4 Months!! Wow.. two was plenty.. yes not weight bearing not even for balance..Yes the leg has atrophied pretty good.. but the swelling is crazy.. I was up a lot to day but my foot and ankle looks like a cartoon.. the whole leg is swollen.. Anyway.. I can tell everyday will get easier.. today was much more than yesterday.. I just keep adding new challenges.. today I was determined to master the deck steps.. took some time but TADA!! Too many steps to the second level of the house. I will still be crawling those for awhile..
Thanks everyone for cheering me on.. Lord know I need the encouragement..

Peace,
Tamara
