I've never heard about putting a vanilla bean in vodka. How much vodka do you use per vanilla bean?

Windrider: I don't know why I got so excited about soymilk. It is really better to stay away from soy. Coconut milk is much better for us and I use coconut milk. Sometimes I wonder what effect all this is having on my brain! Have you read about soy? I have some serious concerns about it. You can go to mercola.com and do a search on his website for articles. I have been trying to become familiar with Sally Fallon's ideas on nutrition and combine that with Carol Sinclair and what we know about our need to cut out starches. It is a great balancing act.

By the way, I loved the almond meal pancake. It was heavenly!! Very filling too! If I eat too many of those I will surely start gaining weight. The ripe bananas were a nice treat also.

Hey Jeff, I just got my first bag of coconut flour and am excited to make some muffins.

Hi Jeff,

I haven't had time to read all the replies to your post but I do have an answer for you. I've been doing the NS diet for 3 years and I ONLY eat meat (loads of it), fish, fruit and spinach (buckets of the stuff), almonds and raisins (loads). I have two spinach salads a day with fresh apple. Recently I went for tests because I thought it was time to check on exactly what you are saying here...ie is my diet depriving me of anything? My doctor was very surprised at the results of my tests..she said that not only were there no signs of problems, I was actually in a very healthy state for a 38 year old. The conclusion I draw from this is that what I'm doing is good for me. Now I don't know if it's because of the spinach and the fruit (I eat on average 2 apples a day plus tinned or fresh pineapple and pears), but I can only assume it is, because only eating meat would surely leave you short of important minerals and vitamins. I would steer clear of supplements and meds and add daily fruit to your diet. Again, apologies if this has already been said. No time to read everything just now.
All the best
Barney

Jeff,
I saw the glycerine question unanswered. Glycerine or glycerol is an alcohol that forms the backbone of most fatty acids or fats. It can be perfectly metabolized by the body so should be safe. About your main question: you can do tests about it but eating as much as possible food that hasn't been modified in some way by the food industry is by far the most healthy for everyone. So meats and fish, all kinds of greens, nuts and fruits and the occasional, not overcultivated, root is the diet our ancestor species evolved on some 1.500.000 years ago and still is the best today.
be careful, Gerard
