If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi Megan! Yes, the yogurt is really yummy! My daughter Elisabeth eats the Western Family Ultimate Yogurt, French Vanilla, which is so good it tastes like dessert! BUT of course it has modified corn starch in it! However, Elisabeth really likes this new kind as well, so...I think I will be sticking to buying this new yogurt! Elisabeth eats tons of it, usually goes through a tub every 2 or so days. Yeah, I have no idea what some of the ingredients are but decided to try it anyway! Cheers, Rita Also...Mig fixed it so my babies show up! I am so excited! The first pic is my James, nearly 12, the second pic my Adrian [Ace] just turned 10, and the last is my beautiful daughter Elisabeth, 3!!!!

Wow! Thank you for your response! Everything you said made a lot of sense and I can definitely relate to it. You are totally right about randomly adding items here and there. I think I sometimes get impatient and want to find out right away if a food bothers me or not (especially with Christmas coming up). I am going to go back to basics tomorrow like you recommended. I am very glad to hear that about the weight because I do not want to lose any more weight. I do add extra virgin olive oil to my mixed greens which I'm glad to hear is another type of fat. I made these honey muffins with coconut flour, coconut oil, honey, vanilla, water, eggs and salt which seem to mess up my stomach. I'm trying to narrow down what it is and I'm thinking it might be the yolks from the eggs that are bothering me. I'm going to try to eat some eggs without the yolks. Also the vanilla I used was organic. The ingredients have Glycerin, certified organic vanilla bean extraxtives, water. Is Glycerin ok? That's really interesting what you said about the vanilla flavored soy milk as that is the kind I tried from Soydream. I'm going to try the plain, "classic" Soydream without any added flavoring or even calcium like you suggested. That's really good to hear about the avocados. I love guacamole from Chipotle (a mexican restraunt). I get it with the burrito bowl which I've been getting just about every other day to try to gain weight. I get white rice, romaine lettuce, chicken and guacamole in the bowl. These things don't seem to bother me much. In about 1 to 2 hours I have to go to the bathroom with this but it doesn't hurt my stomach. If I eat the guacamole by itself it doesn't bother my stomach at all and doesn't send me to the bathroom. The problem is the guacamole doesn't seem to keep for very long in the fridge. Oh well I'll just eat it with the burrito bowls. Apples seem to bother my stomach but I don't seem to have any problems with green grapes and raisins so there's a fruit I'm going to try a very ripe bannana and melon like you recommended. I know cantalope messed my stomach up but I want to try melon. That's also very interesting to hear about the aged cheese. Thanks again for your response!

The first couple of months of NSD/LSD were terrible for me. No energy, leg cramp, weigh loss, feeling faint and dizzy, throwing up food -- you name it. I realized my body couldn't take the sudden change. I couldn't digest all that leaves and raw veggies. So I decided to become more flexible about the diet and then experimented little by little by introducing and eliminating different things. Now I eat small amount of rice sometimes and do not overdo raw leaves and veggies. I do drink milk or eat yoghurt everyday. I took liquid multivitamins for a while -- found Floradix to be very helpful but can't continue since it is very expensive. But I think it helped me a lot. Now I take it only once in a while but still taking fish oil and cal, mag, boron. My weight has stabilized, my digestion has improved and as for my pain level -- while it is not all gone at least I am functioning. I found that other grains especially wheat is really a problem for me while rice and some lentil/legumes (such as bengal gram) are not as bad as long as I don't eat them too much. My energy level is back to where it used to be which is not anything like normal healthy people but at least I am not about to faint. I think the NSD/LSD thing is rather complex and one needs to find the right combo for their own body. It is not quite one formula fits all. It is just not that simple. I am not saying I have figured everything out about what's right or wrong for me, but I realized after a while that maintaining a normal (for me)level of energy, weight, digestion and ability to function were my immediate priority. And then if I can ever do pure NSD and get rid of the disease -- that will be a miracle. I haven't given up that hope.

Yes, we do miss Dragonslayer. This has been a very interesting post! I would like to add a few thoughts to Windrider's comments on coconut oil. Yes, it may be very fattening so to speak, but I have been using coconut milk and coconut cream (Tropical Traditions) fairly consistently for six/seven months now and still lost weight. It is extremely good for you. Might want to check out Tropical Traditions website or Sally Fallon's book Eat Fat, Lose Fat. Also of interest to me was the comment about soymilk. I didn't know soymilk of any kind was okay for us. I have been yearning for a milk substitute. I just found out I have a moderate allergic response to milk and yogurt (had an allergy test done). The only dairy I have been having lately is a little plain yogurt on occasion. I really have been missing grains lately. I want a bowl of cereal so bad. So I am excited to think I could use the plain SoyDream. Any good ideas for a substitute for cereal out there? Thanks guys! Oh, by the way Jeff, I am only about 4 hours away from you. My family lives in Westminster and I go to a rheumy at 80th and Sheridan. Shelli

Jeff,
I don't see any mention of fatty fish - even if you cannot get fresh fish you should be trying things like tinned sardines, tuna, salmon, mackrel and maybe you can get 'rollmop' herrings etc. The fat in fatty fish is rich in the omega 3 fatty acids which are important for us.
'Then you should say what you mean,' the March Hare went on. 'I do,' Alice hastily replied; 'at least - at least I mean what I say - that's the same thing , you know.' 'Not the same thing a bit!' said the Hatter.

For a cereal substitute I take tofu and cut in up in chunks in a bowl, and then add nuts to it, and a chopped up apple and/or any other kind of fruit or berry I find in the fridge, and sometimes raisins or cranberries or dried fruits. Maybe a sprinkle of cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Then I pour some coconut milk or the very plain soymilk over it, and some maple syrup or honey. You can also add a little oil. A bowl of this stuff lasts for hours.
Try to avoid soymilks with the calcium carbonate added, as that stuff will give you belly cramps. I've only been able to tolerate the plain soydream. Be cautious, I think the organic coconut milk is safer, and you can dilute it with a bit of water if you think it's too thick.

I went thru your list here and the thing you want to be absolutely sure to avoid is the wheat, rye, and barley families, which all contain gluten. Gluten can also be found in some forms of "modified food starch" also known as Diabolical Food Additive Sometimes Made of Wheat. I have not yet seen a turkey bacon that was safe. I've seen a few turkey hams, (just a few...) but the turkey bacons are not good. They all seem to have grain byproducts now. Some have good luck with beef or pork bacons. I am not much of a pork eater at all, but if you can tolerate it, good for you. Soy milks...depends on how they are processed, and the additives...VERY iffy for you. If you want to put silken (softest) water packed tofu in a blender with more water to make a beverage...maybe. Avoid calcium carbonate in soymilk, it is going to give you gut cramps. Avoid flavored soymilks, and those with any sort of thickeners or flavorings added. Vanilla ice cream. No. Not unless you made it yourself right now and know what is really in it. Cream and sugar=Not going to work yet. Just go off dairy until you get this under control, and then later you can try adding in dairy in the form that does not have the lactose, like hard cheese, and see what happens. Almond milk. No. Avoid, unless you made it. Berries with little seeds in them, like blueberries or raspberries or strawberries. No, no, careful. Small quantities.
Beer ...NO this has grain in it. Beer is suicidal with the bad gut. Ack. No.
Sauce on chicken wings...unless you know exactly what is in the sauce, you run the risk of hitting a modified food starch that is not corn based but wheat based. Be very, very cautious with commercial sauces and salad dressings.
On your "to try" list, I would be very cautious with the milk and gouda cheese and goat cheese. The parmesan and hard, older cheddars, which have the lactose aged out, will be safer to try at first. Corn is also going to be iffy for you, as it is a difficult thing to digest even for normal people.
Green olives...the red pimentos in them are actually not real anymore and have starch in them, unless you read the labels VERY carefully. You want Merzetti brand. That's what's getting you with the olives. Olives can be a great source of probiotics, but you have to be careful they are really olives.
I'm pretty sure if you ditch the problem items with the hidden grains the fruit tolerance is going to come up and be better.
If you have any decent heath food stores in the area, you can find gluten free items in them.

wind_rider, Again you are totally right. I have only found chicken wings at one place that don't seem to bother me (wal-mart). I think that just got me thinking I could handle the sauce but you're right I am worried about what is put in the sauce and I am starting to find out that most chicken wings do bother me. The good thing about chicken wings is it is something I can have when I go out to eat with my wife or my friends and usually they don't bother me that bad or if they do it's not right away (usually about a half an hour to an hour later). Also at Buffalo Wild Wings I can get my wings without sauce or I've noticed if I very lightly dip the chicken wings in the sauce it doesn't seem to bother me too much but I have to be careful with that. Goat cheese was one of the foods that really messes up my stomach it just usually takes about an hour then I'm in extreme pain. The vanilla ice cream is a craving I've had since I started this diet and I thought since it is starch free maybe I can tolorate it but you are right I can't (again extreme pain in stomach). Oh well, I'm learning.
