George, aloha
one minor..ps... whereas Jefferson Airplane took flight in August 1965 and Mr. Boeing's beautiful 747 airplane
took flight in 1968, a more appropriate statement would be to say that a Boeing 747 airplane is as loud as a
JeffersonAirplane.
also, found the tech rider they used in 1968; they damanded 120AMPS of power to run the stage, the pa and the light show.
the pa system (which i had to supply) had to produce 126db spl measured twenty feet from the speaker cabinets, with
a loss of no more than two db per hundred feet with no less than 120 db at the furthest point in the venue.
Paul(rhythm and 12 string guitar) played thru six fender 'super reverb' amps (w/ 4 10" speakers each), two fender
'bandmaster' amps with 100watts each plugged into speaker boxes with 2- 12' speakers, and two fender 'bassman'
amps plugged into speaker boxes with two jbl 15"speakers.
Jorma(lead guitar) played thru NINE fender 'twin reverb' amps with two- 12" speakers, and a crown350watt ss amp
which powered four extension speaker boxes with two- 12"jbl's each.
Marty (rhythm guitar/ 2nd lead) played thru two fender 'twin reverb' amps and a direct line into the pa.
Jack(bass) used 6/8 fender 'bassman and bandmaster' amps and a pair of solid state amps(mac maybe)
plugged into about eight speaker b boxes at center stage and a pair of speaker cabinets one each side of the stage.
a lot of very pretty gear...all tie-dyed grill covers.
little note...all wide dispersion conventional paper cone speakers...no 'horns'
if any of you ever saw the grateful dead from 1970 to 1972 or the New Riders Of the Purple Sage- this is that set...
ja bought new, betterer stuff from 1969to1970.
best, george
