If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

attention TORONTO, Jefferson Starship's Gallactic Renuion tour is tentatively scheduled to play Toronto (venue name is unclear, today) on 21 February 2006...i'll get you the name as soon as the typos are corrected. we don't often get to canada (although we did play british columbia last july)...so this is your chance at the chaos. now, without appology, the likihood of my going to canada in the dead of winter is nil, but you can still enjoy. also: bbking's in new york city on 17 February 2006 is 'confirmed'...tickets on sale now. and: the strand in providence on 15 February 2006 is also 'confirmed' tentative booking at the performing arts center in kingston, new york is not happening...date was moved to Westbury, Long Island. oh and Fairbanks and Anchorage, Alaska are also happening, along with Maui and Honolulu in January[heartbroken]. best aB '*** all dates are subject to change till the day after the show.'

Thanks for the notice Ben but my hearing aid doesn't do well with their kind of music. But if you could "bring back" Glen Miller and his gang, I would cheerfully buy a battery for that occasion.
February in Toronto is horrible.

Glenn Miller is awesome... George if you can "bring back" Glenn let me know, I will be there. In the Mood, Chattanooga Cho-Cho.... Ben... when I read the title, I thought you were calling for arms to invade Canada... thought maybe you were upset over a hockey game Tim

old George, hey, you'll be ok...no need for hearing aids at all...you might want earplugs instead. in Paris they were popping about 130db in the orchestra...even the 'acoustic' formation plays about 120db. so heck, unplug and put on your muck lucks. best aB

Oh my goodness, here I am with several of his long play records and I forget the double "n" in Glenn.
You have good taste in music Tim.

A serious question Ben,
Do the guys in these bands suffer hearing loss from the high sound levels they are grinding out to their audiences and you also, have you suffered hearing loss from attending the concerts of the bands you enjoy?
In any industry in Canada that sometimes only play lip service to proper sound level standards re their employees, whether you work in a band, orchestra or a sawmill or a papermachine, a couple of hours of sound levels above 84 dbA, will without question, cause your hearing ability to deteriorate. 120db to 130db is much like the same sound level you would be exposed to if you stood behind a 747 as it warmed up for take-off. Not good.

Yeah, I watched him die. Well, the actor (Jimmy Stewart, I think, died for him).

Yeah, that was Jimmy. He died many times before it was his turn. My all-time favorite actor for sure! Heck, I give a high vote for lifetime acheivement outside Hollywood as well.

OG... good question...i do have a buzzing in my right ear; i was working a pa system in 1972 and tried to adjust placement of a speaker box as it was working...something overload and i've had the buzz (a G i think) ever since. i can still tune a guitar by ear...i hear well...when the band is loud there is NO NOISE... Paul Kantner and Marty Balin have both conversed with me about this subject. Marty still has perfect pitch but has a little high end loss of acuity; Paul says his ears are perfect, his brain is fried. In the sixties Jefferson Airplane used a huge set of pretty equipment with tie-dyed grill covers...since their drummer liked playing on a six inch riser the band's stage set went wide not high...unlike the who or rolling stones, jefferson's never placed speakers above shoulder level. with the dispersion characteristics of jbl12's and fender 10's the full impact of the sound passed the guys on stage below ear level and hit the audience about row three. I asked Paul about the drummer's eight inch crash cymbal (which was above ear level) and he admitted that that sound 'penetrated' everything. our singer Diana wears a noise cancelling set of earphones to monitor the other voices and one guitar for tune... our drummer has a set also but gets the full mix...Chris our keyboard player is set up behind Paul's amps and Slick(lead guitar) places his marshalls wide not high...I think our other singer had some damage done, but hadn't played on stage since 1986/7; he healed up...rejoined the band last year...doing fine now. The concert in paris had my ears ringing pretty loud, hard to sleep...they just went out to shock and awe ! whew ! take no prisoners, killer or be killered rock 'n roll. they do that from time to time...louder than the who. Saw that approach at a dinner theatre in suburban new york, we haven't been back since...but we go back to BB King's club in NYC about twice a year... there is no more transcendant event than standing ten feet in front of a pair of fender twins with one of those sacred Rickenbacker guitars playing space music...some of our friends ( kids ) do wear ear protection. you are supposed to feel this stuff. thanks for the guestion, i know this is your field. best aB
