since your screen name is former foodie, you can probably relate to how we celebrated.....largely with food. went out to eat. had the following: best crab cake outside of maryland, maybe the best i've ever had, including my 5 years of living in maryland and on a quest for the perfect crab cake, this one was mostly huge lumbs of crab with a cucumber dill sauce that was perfect. spinach, chevre, orange salad with a light citrus - champagne vinairgrette, very good. the main course was duck which was cooked very nicely with wild rice and root vegetables. the duck was good, the wild rice and root vegetables were ok if not very imaginative. dessert was a very good creme brulee, perfectly caramelized on top. and chamomile tea.

but just spending the day with hubby was the best part.....

that and all the birthday wishes from friends and family,

that's really what makes the day special.
