Hi Skittles,
Eric covered diet in laymen terms....
I did talk with my rheumy and primary care physician concerning diet. My rheumy stated, "there is no evidence supporting the diet", my primary encouraged me to try diet and stated their was nothing he saw at issue with it.
Four years later and it has been over two years since I saw my rheumy (no need when you are not in any pain 95% of the time and not taking any meds.... 5% some stiffness due to cheating or overdoing it).
I have seen naturopaths as well in the past and they saw no issue with diet either, but encouraged me to trial other diets (which I was not interested in).
You should discuss with your doctor. But I am at ease with the diet.... our medical insurance is now based on individual health attributes.... cholesterol, weight, blood pressure, blood glucose level.... and I scored 97 of 100 points, only 1 person at our facility of 120 scored better.
Key is to eat a lot of fruits and veggies in addition to the fat/protein.
