RE: 2004 date on original post.

D'OH!!! Thanks for pointing that out folks! How in the heck did I miss that? Oh wait, I know, it was nearly 7 am and I hadn't been to bed yet...now it all comes back to me. Nothing like me chastising someone two years after the fact! Oh well, telling someone with AS to get a job makes me mad no matter what year it was said! How in the heck did this gem get dragged back to the top?

Brad

What I would like to know is how a person who has turned 50 and who has AS can get a job without being discriminated against, especially if that person is a woman.

I found the remark quite offensive too. I thought that there was no need for the person to say "ps. get a job". The other remark, well, I think there was some validity in the comparison because it would be interesting to know how someone can get one of those motorised wheel chairs, and why others who need something like a hot tub to assist them are denied this under insurance, unless of course the insurance companies are coming to the party. That is not happening here in Australia and I doubt that we could claim a hot tub with our medical expenses.

My answer is going to be to hopefully attend hydrotherapy at the local retirement village.

In the meantime, I long to be able to get into a hot tub again.

Either way, it was an interesting thread, and an interesting question.
