Karen, I was told by my Dr. he could write a prescription and that would allow me to take it off taxes as a medical expense, but that was the best I could hope for. I just shopped till I found a used one cheap. It is an older model, but I have had little trouble out of it. I would not be without mine, It has helped immensly. Good Luck J.R.
