I know we have talked about getrting mouth sores in the past, but does anyone else get tongue sores?
I seem to hove problems with sores on my tongue of all places! This isn't the first time it has happened. Kind of like little "cold sores" on the edges of my tongue. One time even had some on the bottom of it as well as along the one entire side of it.
Are the tongue sores actually "mouth sores"?
I can't even drink a soda or eat anything salty because my tongue is so sore.

OUCH Jams,
Sorry I can't be of help with this. I have never gotten mouth sores like you and others describe. But I sure hope you can get some relief from them soon. Sounds so painful and I am so sorry you are having to deal with this.

Hope they get better soon. Take care,

Pam

Taking a lot of NSAIDs makes you prone to mouth/tongue sores. I take a lot of B vitamins and Folic acid to counteract this.....then when even THAT doesn't help, which is not too often, I break out the L-Lysine.

I hate mouth sores and tongue ulcers! Hurts to eat, hurts to talk!!!

Here's a mundane suggestion but are you sure you don't have just a big of a jagged tooth edge that you otherwise haven't noticed? That could be checked out by a dentist. It could be that you are inadvertently scraping your tongue against a teensy sharp edge of a tooth or teeth which causes the tongue sores.

lots of compassion coming your way from across the pond. I have mouth / tongue sore problems, although I have not had any in a couple of months. My Dr prescribed me Prednisolone (Prednisone, in the USA) in a 5mg soluble tablet form, which when disolved in a drop of warm water and swilled and gargled, not swallowed, doe's the trick for me.

just had another thought, as a matter of interest, what drugs do you take for your AS. Methotrexate is the one which caauses me my ulcers, although I take Folic acid as well.

I get the mouth and tounge sores too. Also my tounge is very sensitive to spicy and salty and sour. I've been told it's the methotrexate, I take 2mgs of folic acid and B-complex 2x daily. I also have a RX ointment for real bad mouth sores but it's nasty stuff and only use it when I can't stand it any more! I also think that I might bite my tounge or inside of my mouth in my sleep!

Cheryl,
Not a mundane question. Actually I do have a rough tooth (it's chipped) which scrapes my tongue. Unfortunately I have the sores in two other spots as well so I know it's not just the tooth.

Meds I take, let's see. I take Azulfadine (enteric coated sulfasalazine), Soma, Effexor, Ultracet, Vioxx, multi-vitamin, melatonin & calcium/magnesium supplement and was just on a Medrol (prednisolone) dose pack a few weeks ago. Oh, also Maxalt as needed for migraines.
