After hearing so many have good results with the LSD/NSD I decided to give it a try. The first week I eliminated all wheat products, modified food starch, and corn but still ate rice. The second week I eliminated all rice as well. I have not seen any improvement yet, and I was wondering how long do we need to be on this diet before we see results?

Hi Harry,

Congrats Harry on starting the LSD/NSD.

Results vary from person to person. I personally took a week to eliminate (with no meds). I was also very strict NSD. It may help to list out what you are eating for others to review, maybe you are eating something with starch and are unaware. You also may have food allergies.... dairy is at the top of allergin foods.

I believe increasing the fruits and veggies is just as important. I feel these foods can help along your health as well. Also consuming large amounts of water is important since increased protein can potentially put stress on the kidneys. I add a lot of fish to my diet as well (good omega 3 fats).

Take care,

Tim

I went totally NSD and saw major improvement in 4 days. I can't speak for anyone else.

Glad you made it, Harry:

I am a really tough case and decided that I would first combine the NSD with antibiotics, just to see how good I could feel. I noticed results within about 2 weeks, but I continued to improve over the next year after getting the most dramatic results within the first three months.

Now, whenever I stay away from antibiotics I get a very gradual return of symptoms and the longest I have been without some form of antibiotics in the past 3 years is just over three months.

I am experimenting with citricidal, colloidal silver, garlic, and other natural antibiotics, but it is too early for me to make any firm recommendations based upon direct experience.

One other tough case was on very strict starch exclusion and had what seemed like no improvement for three months, but then started to notice the turn around. The average case, however, is somewhat better.

I posted some information on this topic in another link (in fact several others), but one thread begins here: https://www.kickas.org/cgi-bin/w3t/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=starch&Number=75797&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1#Post75797. I have wondered whether those of us who do not respond quickly to the NSD might not also have C. albicans overgrowth, and one fellow ASer I have been corresponding with outside of AS confirmed this with an ESR drop of 45 points after treatment for the candidiasis!

I very much recommend the Edgar Cayce 3 Day Apple Diet, especially right now because it is the season in N. America and I just completed another one last week with great results that will last (I can predict the future) because I am now fasting...

Here is something that might also help inspire us: http://www.mercola.com/2002/oct/5/dangerous_grains.htm. More than a grain of truth there, once the bacterial substrate connection is established.

Be strict and you will be rewarded, and I say the sooner the better!

Regards,
John

there have been several posts on this subject before, so it may help to search in the archives. i believe response time is an individual thing. some people respond quickly and some do not respond at all, such as myself.

Stay no starch for a while, then try eating something starchy. You will DEFINITELY feel it if this diet works for you.

I mean to say the results may not be so obvious right now at first because you're so used to feeling crummy.....I didn't exactly have *spectacular* results but if you feel twice as bad with the readdition of starches, it's a good sign you should REALLY stay away from them

Tim,
I have been eating either yogurt or cottage cheese and fruit for breakfast with a glass of orange juice, some days I will eat bacon and eggs and fruit. Lunch has been a variety of things like cheese, corned beef, a serving of fruit, Buffalo wings ( chicken wings fried, no batter, with a hot sauce on them), and salad. Dinner is usually some meat and vegies, all vegies are no potatoes, corn, beans or anything made with wheat. Dried fruits, cheese, ice cream, chocolate are snack items. I check all contents for starch as I found that most all of the yogurt on the market contains modified food starch. There are some that do not but they seem to be in the minority. I have since seen posts where some people have a tough time wiht yogurt so for this week I have eliminated that. Still minimual if any results.

WOW that is fantastic. I hope that it continues for you and although I am in my third week without results I am hopeful that I will also see results.

John,
Thanks so much for all the information and links. I have been very careful about consuming starches, but I may have missed something. I am using Carol Sinclair's book as a guide and now am on week three. For those familar with her system I have eliminated all of sections 1 & 2 and now starting section 3. I am going to continue for a while and see what happens. Hopefully I will reach the point that many others seemed to have reached with this approach.
