Hi, need some advice.

My daughter who is 10 years old wants to use chat rooms to talk to other internet users all over the world. Rather than just let her jump into anything I thought I would ask on here and see if anyone knows a safe moderated chat room for her age group.

I tried yahoo chat for kids, and it was full of perverts, so looking for something a bit more decent!!!

Thanks in advance!

Daz

You might try Yahoo Groups or MSN Communities. Each group has their own private chatroom for just members and the groups are sometimes moderated by an adult. There are some out there for parents and children where everyone gets into chat and posts on the board together.

Have you talked to her about her interests? Is there a subject she likes to talk to others about? There are chat rooms dedicated to specific things such as space, geology, barbie, dogs, horses, crafts, religion, and so on. If she were to pick a couple of issues important to her you could search for a good chat room by subject and then lurk for a while to see what's up.

Maybe she can chat to her local friends and create her own network using IM that way she is away from the general public
