That's really nice, Cindy.. Your comments about "anorexic" people are rude. How would you like it if someone made similar comments about larger people??

The world would be a much nicer place if we thought about what we said before we said it. Shame on you, Cindy!!!

I didn't find Cindy's comments rude. I used to be one of those skinny women (not anarexic looking, just skinny) and it wouldn' t have offended me. As a matter of fact, I would LOVE it if my hubby would tell me that, but the fact is, he likes skinny women (that's one thing that attracted him to me in the first place). Alot of women starve themselves so that they look anarexic, I can not (and would not) do that. For one thing I cant because if I don't eat I feel like I'm gonna pass out and I have 3 kids to take care of, and for another thing I don't want to look anarexic. Some people are skinny by nature and others are skinny by choice. And another thing, I don't think she was talking about skinny women, I think she was talking about anarexic looking people who are that way by choice. Cindy wasn' t trying to insult skinny people by any means. I saw nothing wrong with her comments.

For me I think it is the combination of several things....meds, inability to excercise enough, depression that causes me to eat more, quit smoking... I have gained aproximately 70 lbs in the last 6 years or so.
I think it requires some significant will power to over come alot of the problems and I think I am just about ready to get this under control....now if I can just stop talking about it and get started...hahahaha.

Amanda,

Not every woman who looks "anorexic", however you define that, is that way BY CHOICE.

I am sure you want acceptance regardless of your body size. We all do. I think the first step in accepting ourselves is accepting others.

Anonymous---you are the one who is rude ----and not man or woman enough to even speak out in person but hide behind the curtain. It wasen't her words they were her husbands. I know you're probably just picking a fight. Many people here at KickAS don't like me and ignore me because I speak out but I am man enough to let them know who I am.

Back to the subject-------Many replies state that because of AS they are not able to exercise -------Please don't use this as an excuse. Find a HEATED pool and have someone teach you different water exercises. Maybe you don't want to be seen in a swimsuit----sorry that is not a good reason. Go to a YMCA and see who is there. All shapes sizes ect. Everyone there respects each other because they are all after the same goal--keeping in shape or getting in shape. Being in warm water is more comfortable than sitting in a chair, so no more EXCUSES. I have even been to pools where they have equipment to lower people in who are in wheelchairs. If someone in a wheelchair is willing to try then why not someone who can get in without help. The only thing stopping you is YOU. GO FOR IT.

Cody,

There is a reason I am posting this ANON. But that's beside the point, I don't think posting ANON is rude.

I wasn't trying to pick a fight but to maybe allow someone to think of things from another perspective for just a moment. Your post was an attack. I advocate the acceptance of all people, what is rude about that??

Just a question is it possible that AS doesn't affect wheather or not you gain or lose weight? Is it possible that our metabolism (sp) is preset and that AS is complicated by being overweight or underweight? I have a hard time maintaining weight myself but it isn't due to stomac problems or anything like that. Either direction overweight or underweight isn't much fun.

Take care

Frankie

I did not say that every person, man or woman, was anarexic looking by choice. If you will read again you will see that I said some are that way by nature and some are that way by choice. And why are you making such a big deal about this anyway? No one was trying to insult anyone. Cindy just stated that that is what her hubby says to make her feel better. What is wrong with that?

Frankie,

you have a good point. I don't know if AS caused my weight gain or not. After my accident I put on 20 lbs. That was WAY before I had all the problems I have now. I have heard that a trauma can mess with your metabolism. Maybe that's what happened to me. I NEVER had a problem with my weight until my accident. The AS, however, is making it hard to lose.

Cody,

about the YMCA heated pools, where I live there is no YMCA. We have two public swimming pools and only one is up and going this year. There is, however, an aerobics class in town that is in the water. (I'm not sure where it is located but my aunt used to go). As soon as I can save up some money I'm thinking about signing up. My hubby is the only person working in the home so that is the only income. We just about have more money going out than coming in. Another is my hubby works 10-11 hours a day and I have 3 kids to think about. I don't ever know what time he'll be home and I don't have a babysitter for them (plus that would be even more money). I'm not too worried about being seen in a bathing suit, not there anyway. Now at a public pool, that's a different story. Anyway, I do blame the AS for not being able to lose the weight. If not for this pain in the ass disease I could be active. And because of this disease I can't work so we don't have alot of money coming in.

Cindys post was far from an attack. Maybe you should sit back and re-read. Cindy is the LAST person to attack anyone. She is one of the sweetest, most gentle people on this site. I dont see her as being hurtful to anyone. Yes, I do know Cindy. We talk on the phone often, and I feel that I can form an honest opinion about her. About you, now that is a different story, because you do not have what it takes to show who you are. You decide to hide. That is your option. Before you accuse someone of attacking, maybe you should look in your own back yard.

Cindy
I love ya, and dont let the ingorance of others get to you. You truely are a wonderful person.
