My first post here!

I’ve been on the nsd diet and am taking Humira for about 2 1/2 years now and I’ve noticed a huge improvement with both treatments working side by side. This past weekend though I’ve noticed some of my symptoms (muscle spasms in lower back, pain in the SI joints, plantar faschitis, jaw pain) are returning especially after a meal. My diet hasn’t changed though but it seems that onions, garlic, and perhaps nuts are aggravating it which I know have a low starch content).

Does anyone have a recipe for a cleanse or something that might repair the gut? Another possibility may be that my humira has stopped working. Would love your thoughts!

I follow a 'weed and seed' protocol to manage the starch-loving bacteria: I alternate 6-8 weeks of probiotics ("seed") with 10-14 days of herbal antibiotics ("weed").

My herbal antibiotic is usually berberine, and sometimes oil of oregano, peppermint oil, and caprylic acid.

After a few rounds I was able to greatly increase my starch intake.

I’ve just started with probiotics and went out to get some sauerkraut at the store. A man saw me buying it and started singing it’s praises! This is helpful with the oils and the time commitment as what I’ve read is fairly nebulous. How does it work with the oils - is there a combination you use? Time you take them? Amount?

Thank you for your help!

I mostly use berberine, it has worked the best. Berberine is powdered in a capsule. I take 500mg 2x day. And then I sometimes augment with peppermint oil pills and oil of oregano during the cycle)

Hello Verona,

Garlic is a natural antibiotic.. another that is supposedly good for klebsiella is ginger. Ginger also has natural pain relief... I would drink some ginger tea at times, but had to really watch some much I used as it is also a blood thinner and I was susceptible to bloody noses in dry conditions.

At times on the diet early on, the diet at times appeared to be losing its impact... but then I would review thoroughly all the recent changes and I would find something I had changed and was typically the culprit. Sometimes it was a supplement.

I believe strongly in probiotics.

Best

Tim

Thanks Tim!

I’ve been eating probiotics (sour kraut, kimchi) for past few days along with olive oil by the spoonful (1 during meals) but feel kind of unsure on how to go about this. Do you include priobiotics at each meal? Can you overdo it?

Hello Verona,

I take probiotics typically away from large meals. When taken with meals the bacteria may assist with digestion.

I prefer to try and heal the intestines, so take away from meals. Presently I drink kefir first thing in morning or eat some sauerkraut away from meals. I do this 5-6 times typically a week.. should do more, but so busy forget at times.

If they do not bother you.. can do each morning and evening if want to be aggressive (but not with hot tea/coffee) as the hot liquid may also kill the bacteria I have read.

Regards,

Tim

Verona,

Olive oil (and balsimic vinegar) I put on all my salads... only time I use it away from meals is if I do the Edgar Cayce 3 day apple fast.

Best,

Tim

Thanks Tim - this is very helpful. So far, I’ve been doing probiotics with meals but will try this adjustment.
