Hello, Jay:

Improvement can take from a month to a year, depending upon many factors especially how long You have had AS and what treatments You have endured already!

Fasting will accelerate Your progress, but it is not easy. I fasted through many weekends when I was working, and continued to six, eight, and eleven days very often. I WISH I had then known about NSD, but the AS always came back even after a 20 day fast!

So, I would suggest that how long it takes to get tangible results depends totally upon You. Please remember that we are not the best judges of our progress; ESR is a useful tool sometimes.

HEALTH,
John

Hi John,

My ESR was never high even under flare.
I just wanted to know when the slightest improvement can be felt.

Tofu isn't starchy who made the traditional way. The process used removes the starch very thoroughly, and was perfectly safe for me even when at my most sensitive to starch.

I've seen only rarely some type of instant tofu in which they added some starchy additive - but that is a danger with all processed foods these days.

I am into 7th week of NSD and also taken 7 doses of Exemptia (Adalimumab). I am slightly better now and started doing exercises. Recently I have taken blood test. I could see following abnormalities.

a. Iron content is 283 μg/dl (reference range for males - 70 to 180 μg/dl).

b. Total Iron binding capacity (TIBC) - 288 μg/dl (Reference range for males - 225 - 535 μg/dl)

c. % Transferrin saturation - 98.26% (reference range - 13 to 45%)

d. Ferritin - 320.2 ng/ml (reference range for males - 22-322 ng/ml)

Apart from the above, noted also the following.

a. Apolipoprotein A1 - 97 mg/dl (reference range for males - 110 to 205 mg/dl)

b. Apolipoprotein B - 47 mg/dl (reference range for males - 55 to 140 mg/dl)

c. LIPASE - 85 U/L (reference range 13 to 60 U/L)

Your comments on the above are invited.

Thanks in advance.

Jay.

Wishing Kickasers’ pain free, comfortable, healthy 2017.

I have been on NSD and parallelly on Humira (Exemption) for more than 4 months. I started getting relief from almost nil walk. I was able to walk 300 m twice a day. Since I am on NSD and taken anti TNF for 8 years, I started taking last two doses of Humira once in 3 – 4 weeks. Last week, after 23 days of Humira shot, I started feeling pain and I am barely able to walk only 100 m without pain. I have taken injection immediately. I just claimbed about 10 steps on that day when I went outside. I am wondering how pain started coming back while on NSD and anti TNF.
I request advice / guidance for further improvement.

Regards.

Jay
