If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hello,
Just a quick one to see if anyone has had anything similar. Off and on for the past 18 months i have been getting a Hot Spot on my left cheek bone. Its only a very small area on the front of my cheek bone near the eye socket. Has anyone had anything like enthesitis on their face?
Just thought this was a bit of a weird one and have no idea if it has anything to do with my AS.
Thanks. Dale

Hi,
I've never heard of anything like that, but with AS, I think almost anything is possible. I hope it resolves soon!
Warm hugs,
Kat

Me too! Left cheek bone, kind of underneath eye socket, very small but distinct sensation. I am on steroids the last two weeks for uveitis.

I get what feels like neuritis along the trigeminal nerve regions, which includes along the cheek bone and around the eye socket. Trigeminal neuritis is when the trigeminal nerve is being irritated in some way, which I think can come from AS involvement of the jaw, and I have in mind also from the very top of the spine (that atlantoaxial joint I think). Its different from trigeminal neuralgia which is much more intense pain originating within the brain somewhere.

Trigeminal neralega or Tic Dellarose in my wife case was caused by arteries being tented up against the 5 facial nerve 20 years ago she had a surgery that fixed the problem. I think what she suffered at that time was far more painful than AS it was like getting hit with a cattle prod in the lower jaw.

I think this is what I've been having! It started with a feeling of numbness on a spot just below my cheek bone on the left side of my face. As the day went on it went down my face, around my ear, down my neck and across my lips. It caused me to go in and see the GP. He didn't know what to make of it. Having to go in to get this checked out gave me the open door to once again share with him everything that is STILL going on with me with new symptoms arising. I also have pain in my sternum that is new. Just learned of AS and how much it fits what's been going on with me all these years. I don't even know what it started...in my 20's? I am now 58.
Yet waiting for my diagnosis. Believing there is a light at the end of this tunnel. HLAB27 negative On the path to getting back to THE GOOD LIFE! Yeah! Now working towards the solution instead of sitting in the problem.

I am now 58. what you've described here is what I'll get if the nerves in my neck are compressed....numbness in my left jaw, etc. it's the first symptom to alert me that what i'm sitting on is causing nerve compression and I need to get up and find a flat firm chair. Because if I don't, then its severe neck pain and upper back muscle spasms. But face / jaw numbness comes first for me.

now- Hi. This is strange stuff. We are often thought of as being off our rocker. But we understand and it is very real.
Journal what you eat, how you exercise, get sleep somehow and continue to learn and grow and share that news with us.
