I am a new member here. I was diagnosed with AS more that 40 yrs ago-after 8 yrs of battling Iritis. I took indocin for over 35 yrs and then etadolac. 2 1/2 yrs ago I started a diet to decrease my ratio of omega-6 to omega-3. In just 3 weeks I was off all medication, including blood pressure, heart rhythm and I quit statins. I did reduce starches and carbs in general as part of my diet since my wife had recently been diagnosed with diabetes. It was actually the book a Doctor had recommended, Protein Power, that led me to discover the importance of the essential lipid ratio. I recently had a minor flare in my hip joint--I think it was due to too much restrictive starch in my diet. I am looking forward to trying some things to reduce the Klebsiella in my gut to see if I can get some additional improvements. Thanks for your site.

Skeet - welcome to KA. Glad you found this great community.

You might like to check out the recipes forum here on KA - there is some great info there. On starch, simplistic ... Starches feed the Kelb fellas, Klebs live in gut, Klebs are inflammatory nasty fellas. They feed on starches / sugars. Dragonslayer / John is the expert on this aspect of controlling AS and fighting off inflammatory conditions.

Flippin mine field, but courage - Go well
