CONGRATULATIONS, nima!

YOU did all the work, and will reap the rewards for a very long time to come.

And i plan on Juicing the apples like she did. I really hope the apples don't mess with me. Do you think juicing apples is fine? Maybe I should cut the apples out.. decisions decisions. I remember reading that Juicing apples is fine somewhere on here a while ago.

The apples should be Okay; just take it easy--like a treat.

Sure Andrea (BettyRawker) will see this,

Way to Kick AS!

Hey again John

So last night, I got home and begun doing some work on my feet and the pain was building up from almost being pain free.

Then I had my first juice with an apple in it, and later last night pain was elevated greatly - I'm not sure if this was related to the apple or not as the pain begun striking 30m before I had the juice.

Pain is still here today, was hoping it would have died down so I could do another proper apple test. I know they are out of season here in Australia and I was lucky to find these organic ones + pears. So I'll wait until pain goes, and try another apple.

Its so strange, During the water I was feeling really good at nights, and yesterday was the opposite.

A few questions I have.

-Do you think a bad diet / smoking etc can cause it to take this long for my body to heal itself ?

-How long does it take for someone who is pain free, and then slips up and eats starch to feel pain free again ?

-I was generally a slim guy, 6 feet weighing about 63kg. During the water fast I hit like 54kg and felt like that was no good. Do you think that could have impacted my results? I will weigh myself later today now being on Juice as I feel like I may have put on a few kg again.

Hope This all works out. I'm just a little confused as a NSD diet worked on me earlier this year pretty quickly and now all this fasting is going in circles (so it feels like)

UPDATE:

Should have waited another 10m, inflammation died down pretty shortly after writing this. Going to stay off apples/pears for now, considering I am also using pears in my smoothies it may not be too safe. When it dies down further and I get pain free (later), I am going to do another Juice with an apple to ease my brain! Haha or tomorrow. I need to learn to listen to my body!

Also i had 10 eggs yesterday which may not have helped last night/today but wanted to break the water and transition into Juice with eggs.

Hi Nima!

So glad to hear you enjoyed some of my recipes, and my journal on juicing. Yay! Always nice to hear that I have been able to help!

I wanted to chime in that I do fine with apple in my juices, but anytime I am worried about an ingredient, I listen to my 6th sense, and just omit it for a bit. Why not add some grapes to your juices for a safe starch-free way to sweeten them up a bit?

Keep us posted!! I am enjoying reading about your journey.

xx

I'm now a KICK AS (and Kick IBD) success story!! After going low starch Paleo to heal my gut, I can now eat nearly all starches, grains & foods without inflammation, flare-ups, or pain. I used a modified SCD diet approach (minus dairy! plus cacao ♥). Cheers to healing & thriving again! I blog at http://www.forestandfauna.com/about/

Hey, nima:

Regret I have never tested commercially-harvested pears with negative starch result, and apples out of season are usually also very unsafe.

Glad You have such rapid flare take-down; a lot of "pay-it-forward" in Your health bank from the fast!

Well, You have the best basis for healing now, but it can still take several months, and it is a rocky road--up and down--but the overall trend is You will continue to make great progress sticking with NSD. Typically, we all had terrible diets (for AS) before starting NSD, and regret the smoking can have some long-term effects related to gut healing, and if it takes a couple of months to reinvigorate the healing process, You will really be aware when this eventually normalizes.

Well, everyone is different to some extent, but as-noted You have established a precedent.

It can take some time for the weight to return, but it will once Your body is accustomed to burning fats and protein. Most of the weight lost during fasting is stomach contents and water; I think the thermodynamic limits of losing body mass is about 1 Kg for just under 5 days fasting, everything else remaining constant (activity levels, temperature).

Hope You continue to feel great; HEALTH is the biggest motivator,

John

Thank you Andrea, I have yet to begin using some of your recipes but they sure look delicious smile

I am thinking about New Zealand in a few weeks and how hard it is going to be to eat out!

I have been pretty well, pain free a few times and then pain coming back in. I have now realized why I am in pain as we speak, and last night right after feeling so great! Dam ActivaMune I found in the back of my drawer. I feel so stupid, tested with Iodine and was starchy. Now I'm reading the ingredients and: Corn Starch, Soy Lecithin, Corn Oil.. Wow sounds worse than a Mars bar! LOL, Hope it goes away quickly! Dam feel so disappointed, well we all make mistakes.

One thing that has got me stumped is the Digest-Zymes I chose to take. -> http://myhealthhub.com.au/digestion-c-164_48/digestzymes-p-622.html?m1track=google

It went black too, what do you think about this. I begun taking them this morning, and felt fine, but at lunch with the Activamune the pain came up.

Do you think this Digestion Enzyme is OK to take? Could it go black because of the Lactase (I did some digging on the topic).

Last thing, I finally got my Flax Seed Oil and am thinking of taking this as a daily supplement along 3 x 1000mg a long with 5tbs of EvoOliveoil. I am also on Probiotics (high dosage for now) Pre-script Assist, and well the Digest-Enzymes (if I can take them).
Do you think it is a good idea to have the Flax Seed Oil daily, or only to stop a flare ??

Other supplements are:
Fermented Skate Liver Oil, Boron, Neem, oregano Oil, Magnesium, Zinc, few others.

And going to do a 2 week detox on other supplements whilst eating. I have been doing a whole lot of reading on Candida, and going to take some of the stuff related to Candida as it seems somewhat related, or at least will do good in fixing myself up quicker due to such a bad diet etc before hand. What do you think about this ?

Also if things go to plan and I get to a pain free state by end of the week I plan on really digging into the meat and at a pretty heavy pace to try and put some weight back on!. Do you think this is OK coming off a Juice/Smoothie Fast ? I know you said on water it is a whole process.

I could do eggs for a day with some soft veggies, and then following day really get into the meat.

I want to put some weight back on, I'm looking reaaaal skinny, but feel pretty awesome smile

Wow. So 5m ago I was still in some pretty high pain, Had my really sweet smoothie (DELICIOUS), but was somewhat concerned it probably wasn't the best option considering my state. Had the digest Enzyme a little before I had it. Afterwards one flax seed oil 1000mg and magnesium. and WOW pain has really gone down already! I feel so stupid for not checking the ingredients and so blindly introducing a product into my array of medicine. Simple mistakes my friends happen once wink I did check the ingredients tbh but didn't see it. :\ awkward
