If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Just got my DNA test kit from the Botnar Research Centre in Oxford. I'm hoping they are going to accept my test - given that my diagnosis has come from outside the NHS and the NHS rheumatologist doesn't accept it. It sounds like it is going to be really interesting - they are going to "compare the genetic variants of particular genes in a large number of patients with AS with the general population". It will be really interesting if they do come up with something that will help diagnosis of HLA B27 negative folk, as well as understanding the inflammatory mechanisms better, so they can do more targetted treatment. I believe the research has been going for a while already, and it mentions the IL23R and ERAP1 genes involved in inflammation. I'm quite excited, even though I know I'm not going to get any personal benefit from it. Has anyone else done the DNA test for this research?

Didn't know about it cemc - so will contact them, see IF I can be included...!
I'd also like to do the IL6 - recently in ophthalmology they have found a relationship with IL6 / glaucoma !

They just contacted me directly, got a letter through the post I think they'd got my address from my rheumy. Mind you mine was a couple years ago so it might have been a different study but it was with the same research centre Cemc mentioned.

Hm. I had a genetics test done a while back. Didn't know about AS then. Will find the results and poke through and get back to you.

think my invite might have come via SIRAS registry, which I got on through NASS. Definitely wouldn't have come via the NHS rheumatologist.
ndgo - genetics tests are pretty specific - there are so many different areas they could look at, so they tend to just pick the area of most relevance. A test done for one reason may not give any results of relevance to anything else.

Naw, cemc, this was a huge DNA test. I've been wicked busy suddenly but when I remember the name of it, will hop back in here.
