Hi friends. I'm relatively new and have posted a few times. I have some new symptoms and it's kind of freaking me out. I have severe tingling, spasms in my feet and it feels like its traveling up the back of my leg. I've never had these symptoms before and I'm looking for support perhaps success in eliminating this. I'm starch free only today and have had 1 shot of symponi about 14 days ago. I'm wondering if a) this is "normal" symptom of AS b) if anyone has had success in eliminating this with meds or with the NSD. I'm going to call doc tomorrow but hoping to get some information. Thank you,

Kelly

Thanks for your response smile I thought the post was lost. These symptoms can be daunting and am feeling quite alone with it all. Wondering if there are support groups in TO. I will check it out smile

Hi Kelly,

I'm glad you are going to talk to your Dr. about it. Sometimes it could a wayward disc in your back causing it or it could be something else. When in doubt, check it out with your Dr.

You are not alone. Come to this site when you feel lonely or scared. This is a great support group online.

My symptoms started with tingling in my hands and up my arms. The drs thought I had carpal tunnel, but when my knees and ankles started being affected they started thinking autoimmune. The drs still don't know what I have, but the consensus is that's it's some autoimmune thing and due to my si joint and back involvement I think it's some kind of spondyloarthritis, like as.

I got rid of the tingling by getting heat and then massage 2 times a week at physical therapy, stretching my pec muscles out and strengthening my back muscles. It took like 12 sessions for the tingling to stop. Maybe those conservative measures would help you?

Thank you ladies....I'm so so hoping that the NSD and Simponi will start working. I feel like a pain in the [*bleep*] to my Doc. This [*bleep*] suckssssss!!!! I so appreciate you all getting back to me. I honestly just thought this was a "normal" symptom. I'll let you know how I progress!

I'd like to do massage but am also dealing with financial stuff. Perhaps I'll see if I can book one or two.

Cheers,

Kelly

I also get tingling in my feet. I do have 2 very slightly budging discs in my lower back but this isn't the cause. My physio said the tingling feeling can be from the nerves..
Good luck with the NSD, ive been at it for 9 months and feel better in every way, its a bit tricky to start with but it seems to work for me.

Hello Kelly,

Get it checked out... 2 things I can think of if related to your AS somehow.

1- reaction to medication
2- Neuropathy... I had tingling in my feet and hands for about a month many years back. My feet would also get cold. It freaked me out when it got a bit worse and finally got it checked out and they told me neuropathy (when inflammation gets in the nervous system for AS).

Hope you find some answers.

Tim
