If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Here's the kicker for me... I'm HLA-B27 negative but apparently my dad has a little psoriasis and my grandmother had IBD. I have IBD so there must be some important genes going on that is not just HLA-B27. I think they refer to it as the histosomething complex. That includes HLA-B27 but other genes too.
As far as sed rates and CRPs get this... I have had some positive ESRs in the past and positive CRPs but guess what? I HAD LIKE NO INFLAMMATION THEN.
Now that I'm beyond a ball of ever increasing inflammation they are showing up negative negative negative and I have inflammatory liver and bowel disease (both active disease) with like tons of blood from my colitis. One would think that would contribute to a positive ESR or CRP but nope clean as whistle... That should tell you how I feel about them tests...
I think working out or not working out has a lot more to do with them tests than other things. That is my only conclusion why my tests are inaccurate cause I know I'm dealing with a lot more than your typical AS.

It's been a year since my diagnosis, and BOOM syndesmophytes on my cervical X-ray. She was so right!
Do syndesmophytes always lead to fusion? Well, yes and no... If they become long enough to touch the adjacent vertebra, then yes, fusion happens.
Full blown raging AS at the venerable age of 25.

I was looking back on really old blood results just recently and noted ESRs between 60 and 80. Last few years (since I've been trying to get the AS diagnosis) ESR has never been above 22. So what was going on then? Well, those high ESRs were pre-coeliac diagnosis when I clearly did have some really bad inflammatory stuff going on. Since the coeliac has been under control, ESR has been pretty much normal. I guess thats one reason that ESR isn't much use as a guide - you can have several things going on at once, and only one of them contributing to the ESR, but making it very easy to think that it could be one of the other things causing the high ESR.

I'm HLA B27 negative, but my CRP levels have always been elevated. Worst was 39 (before going on humira), best was 11, normal is 0-7.
AS, IBS, reflux oesophagitis and dysphagia, PCOS/insulin resistance, asthma... Currently managing my AS with humira, methotrexate, low starch diet and exercises. Also taking omeprazole, metformin etc.

Negatory here. The Spondilitis Association released in one of their articles there were something around 21 other genes related to having A.S.!

Tnate,
We have a lot of similarities. I am HLA-B27 negative and have eosinophilic esophagitis/colitis with liver inflammation (fibrosis). I have all the classic symptoms of AS with fused SI joints. I have been referred to the Mayo Clinic, because my liver already has significant damage. Oh, and my dad has psoriasis too and my mom has ulcerative colitis.
We have similar family histories and symptoms. I wonder if you have had the lower/upper GI scopes. If the eosinophils are causing your colitis and your liver is involved, you could have something very serious (hence why I'm heading to Mayo). I hope you are getting thoroughly checked out.

I haven't been officially diagnosed, so technically right now it is steatohepatitis. But my GI suspects that I have some kind of autoimmune liver disease--hence why I'm being sent to Mayo. I hope to know more soon.
