All blenders are different, and since I have never used your blender, I can't say for sure what results you will have. But I would assume your blender will work just fine! I know people use different blenders to make different smoothies, ice creams, and nut milks just fine.

And I am really happy with my Cuisinart ice cream maker. Those look great too, they are the standard size of the one I have, I just went to the bigger size for catering. I will note, some have complained that they don't have freezer space to store the freezer bowl. We have 3 freezers, so I just leave the freezer bowls in the freezer at all times, that way they are always ready when I want ice cream. Otherwise you have to remember to stick them in the freezer 12 hours before. If you have a spot in your freezer that can fit the freezer bowl at all times, I would assume you would like this machine.

Hi Andrea.
Do you apply the same rules to ice cream/ smoothies with fruit like you do to other fruits(with regard to food combining aspect)? How far after a protien meal is it ok to eat a piece of fruit in the evening? Last quwstion: How did you manage to beat candida? I also have it in my stool test, do you have any good tips?
Thanksmalot for all your posts,

Hey Bman,

For the most part yes. But when everything is blended down into tiny particles in a smoothie or ice cream it is a lot easier to digest vs. a big piece of meat and a soft slice of melon.

For one thing I do horrible when I combine coconut milk and fruit, (especially Young Thai Coconut Meat, that is a huge NO with sugar for me!) so I often sub in almond milk instead if fruit is involved. But I still do great with a lot of ice cream combos.

The raspberry sorbet with frozen raspberries, avocado, lime juice, honey always sits super well with me.

And coconut milk (from the can) ice creams that are just sweetened with either honey or maple syrup are great too, but I don't combine coconut milk with fruits anymore.

As for beating candida a few years ago, after it was wrecking my gut and body, and having it also show up in a stool test, going grain free made the biggest difference. Also avoiding ALL refined sugars from cane, sugar beets, or corn, those sugars are all totally out for me. I also avoid all dairy, as lactose is a hard to digest sugar candida loves to feast on too.

And then besides that I just make sure I do good food combining, fruits first, proteins with simple veggies, lots of smoothies with everything super broken down, and no sweets after a big meal, always before.

Here is my favorite article I have read and can totally relate to concerning candida: http://empoweredsustenance.com/busted-candida-myths/

And with smoothies, food combining charts will tell you that fruits and greens are fine if well blended or juiced. Like this one, you will see it noted in the footnote below: http://www.alderbrooke.com/images/food-combining-chart-front.jpg

Thanks for sharing those links. I found her site really interesting, but now I'm really confused and worried. I stumbled across her post on why almond flour may not be good for us. It cause inflammation???? Ugh! Seriously? As I'm sitting here drinking my homemade almond milk... http://empoweredsustenance.com/avoid-almond-flour/

Lulu,

Please don't worry yourself too much over what one person says. You will soon learn there is no "one" right way. Instead there are all sorts of variations and exceptions to what we as individuals can tolerate. All you can do is read about what works for different people, and test new foods and ideas, and then see what works for you. Then you will have all the power to decide what works for you and what doesn't!!

Everyone is just out there giving it their best shot, and sharing what works for them!!!

I quickly glanced at the link you provided regarding the almond flour and I hope you noticed this author said the same thing, "You may feel more energy or have less pain and inflammation. You may not. We’re all unique, so you have to experiment and discover what best fuels your body."

And when I first when grain free years ago, I way overdid it on almond flour goodies, and I am sure that is what she is getting at, as too many almond flour pancakes, cookies, and baked almond flour breads is not the best idea. Keeping this limited diet as varied as possible is our true challenge.

Not sure about eggs personally, as I don't eat them, but according to the food charts it looks like they fall into the proteins group and should not be eaten with fruit for anyone battling candida, bacteria imbalances, bloating, etc.

I find it best if I start the first half of the day with smoothies, fruits, even almond milk-raw cacao shakes, then if I eat a protein for lunch like shrimp or fish, I do best if I don't eat any fruit for a few hours.

I have also found that after dinner I am best not to eat anything sweet, not even hours later. So I have to get in my dessert first! If I drink fruit juice in the evening after dinner, I bloat right up like a painful balloon again.
