A few things to consider - I am one of those people who cannot tolerate any starch:) - or perhaps my diet is so strict I am used to zero pain levels and notice when I goof immediately.

Things that I have noticed cause an issue for me - any veggie even if not starchy contains tiny bits of starch trapped in the hard cells of the plant. Even raw if I eat more than a handful of carrots or a handful of celery (or anything else) I may notice it, especially if I get into the habit of doing so. Since AS triggers build on themselves over time its important for me to have solid starchfree diet from day to day and try to add only those other things if I feel like it from time to time, not every day. Even cheese will mess me up if I have more than a small amount every day, over time it will build up and I will have to cut it out for a while to get back to zero.

I have small reactions also to some of the fruits like blueberries and strawberries (and pineapple can be starchy). Only raisins, grapes, melons and citrus without too much pith seem to be totally safe for me to eat every day if I want to.

There is also an effect of being more sensitive on the diet in the beginning. I could not even eat eggs or cheese for some odd reason when I started but now I can have them just fine. The eggs thing remains a mystery - it may have been some inflammatory thing not related to starch.

Its not for everybody but if you can stomach eating just a few things like ground beef and raisins for a while it may become your 'fall back to pain free' mode and then every other day or so you can have other things. It took me a while to get all the vitamins down though... Dried liver from argentina saves me from missing alot of stuff. I add magnesium and niacin, D3 and fish oil and im good. Exercise takes care of the remaining small bits of pain - most days I wake up completely pain free after 7 or more hours of sleep :), It can be done but it is a bit extreme to be honest. I am used to it.

Hang in there and keep it simple if you can!

Thank you for you suggestions, and thank you for your answer.
My main problem is that I have felt better when my diet wasn't so strict. As it becomes more restrictive, pain appears and became stronger and stronger. In few posts I saw that sometimes pain became worse before it disapears...I am waiting to see what will happen.
