I just got back from the doctor's office where he said he thinks I might have Meniere's disease.
I experience dizziness, vertigo, slight hearing loss, tinnitus and a constant buzzing in my head (I think part of the hearing loss is that the buzzing covers up some outside sounds)

Does anyone know if this is related to AS? or to HUMIRA?

Has anyone been diagnosed with this?

Hello, Pezami:

Meniere's is rarely a complication related to AS, but it is related to inflammation even infection (as is AS in an indirect way). But in any regard this could be related to AS or even NSAIDs used to treat it; a lot depends upon timing and what other symptoms are present when the condition is at its maximum.

I have had friends with this condition and in one case it was smoking/aspirin related. But I have not ever known any case related to Humira or any of the chimeric drugs.

It can be very annoying, and I hope You can get it under control soon!

HEALTH,
John

I have the constant buzzing ringing in my ears, and at times severe dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus, and the hearing loss - It hasn't been suggested that I have Meniere's disease. So use to the buzzing/ringing, it's normal now. Looking into possible Growth Hormone problems and few other health issues. I have AS and I am HLA B27+. On no drugs.

I've had occasional balance issues for the past 35 years or so. Lost all my balance 13 years ago, was diagnosed with autoimmune inner ear disease--tons of prednisone for about 3 months gave me some balance back. TNF blockers do seem to help.

Even most ENTs don't know what to do about dizziness. There are dizziness specialists called neurootologists or otoneurologists who can do all the tests required for a proper diagnosis.

There's lots of good information on dizziness at T.C. Hain's website, although I got treated at Johns Hopkins.

Thanks for all the replies.

I am going to an ear nose throat doctor on the 31st.
What I always find amazing is that you have to get referrals and chase after appointments while trying to save up money to pay for the visit. And then you get disbelieved if you don't present with the problem on the day you finally get in to the doctor.

I've had a swollen lymph node for about 3 weeks- I saw the doctor while it was swollen but it was not part of what I had made the appointment for so it was ignored. I cannot just pop into the doctors office. Hopefully, in an ironic and self destructive way, it will be still swollen when I see the new doctor.
