Hey, BMAN:

Some people rely upon the oral antifungal drugs--perhaps the most common effective course would involve Fluconazole, but I would be careful with this and also combine it with anti-Kleb antibiotics. The Road Back Foundation can help You find a physician knowledgeable in this approach.

But taking antibiotics, I always worried about C. albicans overgrowth, so got to making my own colloidal silver and occasional use of garlic but very common use of EFAs; all of these are supposed to be natural ways of reducing the candidiasis activity. I don't believe, however, that I have ever had any overgrowth, perhaps due to my fasting experiences, as this is a very effective way to reduce this of course. Regret the anti-candidiasis diet is even WORSE than NSD: No starches AND No sugars! But it is important to eliminate this blight in order to achieve proper intestinal healing; we have to do these thing in cycles and these can be of our own choosing, but important to understand the relationship, or as-proposed relationships which have seemed to work for many of us.

HEALTH,
John

Today I started the NSD.
Its not so hard for me, only on the weekend when everybody eats pizza or burger laugh

I hope the NSD works for me soon. But at the moment (the last week) I dont have any pain.

Can I eat mustard? I think there is starch but the iodine doesnt get black.
Same happened by tomatos and carrots. What should I do?

Can I eat these foods?

Tomatoes are members of the nightshade family ( also includes peppers and potatoes); which some people have a reaction to.

Recently my husband was told that tomaotoes could cause a problem to him by his keneisiologist when previously they were 'ok'
Carrots have starch that is released by cooking them so some people can tolerate raw, but not cooked carrots. It depends which diet you are following whether you include them. If you want no starch, then do not eat cooked carrots.
On my husbands diet, I only serve cooked carrot occasionally and only a small serving.

If you are looking to be safe then leave out the tomatoes and carrots; maybe introduce later and check whether you have a reaction.

Hi, Dominik:

Mustard is fine. I do/did not react to it and Carol Sinclair approves of "mustard flour." If it does not indicate with the iodine, it is probably safe.

In general, VEGETABLES cooked get starchier, whereas FRUITS when cooked (or dried) get less starchy. Carrots never caused a problem with me when the are raw, but I did not eat enough cooked carrots to allow them to become an issue: They will turn dark.

Tomatoes are just fine, cooked is better if there is a nightshade issue--a friend of mine could never eat raw tomatoes without some arthritic complication, but when cooked they were good; a reversal of the general rule: Tomatoes are "legally" a fruit, but scientifically still a vegetable as pointed out in the "nightshade" family. I do not have any issues with this group, and eat peppers of all varieties without any problem. Tobacco is the only nightshade plant that is absolutely deadly for those of us with AS.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers--good luck with it and please don't hesitate to ask if questions.

bon appetit,
John

Hi there, glad you started today, and hope you feel much better soon. Do you feel inspired to learn more about cooking? You can have pizza...if you make it yourself...and burgers, too, you can make the buns (bread). If I can do it, anyone can, because I am naturally lazy when it comes to cooking and baking. : )
