If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hello all,
I was diagnosed with AS around 10 years ago and having started almost immediately on a low starch diet (as one of Prof. Ebringer´s patients) I manageded to completely control my main symptoms: joint, back pain and Iritis. However, something which ocurrs time and time again over the past 3-4 years is glue ear or Otitis Media. My doctor said he didn´t think it was autoimmune related, but I am not sure how he could have known that. It doesn´t seem to usually turn into an infection - just have this feeling of blockness in my right ear. It's particularly irritating as I am a musician and need my ears to be working perfectly. Oddly, when I went for a hearing test recently, it came out as normal, though my feeling is that I cannot hear upper partials in my right ear as in my left. For instance when I rub my fingers together near my right ear, it sounds dull, as opposed to my left ear where I hear it cleanly. I cannot think of any reason why I should be getting repeated bouts of this and have begun to wonder whether like so many unexplained symtoms, it could be HLA related. Does anyone have any advice? Currently the only treatment available is a saline solution spray for the nose and an otovent, where you blow up a balloon with the nose! Funny but true....

I have had ongoing problems with my ears for many years. I would get a feeling of them being blocked up, sometimes I couldn't hear properly and sounds were distorted and rumbly. The doctor said my ear drums were bulging and that I had inflamed eustachian tubes due to a virus, but it went on for years. I would feel dizzy and nauseous sometimes as well. It went away when I stopped eating gluten, along with my asthma.
I still sometimes get discomfort or itching in my outer ear now, but I think that is a separate problem of a chronic low level infection(swimmers ear).
Symptomatic since 1996 Gluten free since 2008 Paleo since 2010 NSD since 2011
