Hello again dear friends.
Well it is only 1 and 1/2 weeks untill my sisters wedding. Touch wood, so far I am doing not too bad.
Have been crazy getting everything organised.
Went away for the hens weekend 2 weekends ago. Late nights, lots of drinks and naughty food. I actualy held up not too bad. It only took 2 days to mostly recovery from that. Quite a lot of pain but I am used to it. Spa bath at the resort realy helped a lot with the pain levels.

So much left to do so stress levels are not helping much.
I am a bit worried about the wedding itself. It is a beach wedding and I am the matron of honour so I will be standing in wet, sinking sand for the ceremony. Struggled a bit with this at the rehersal. I found myself shifting my wieght from one foot to the other and my SI's realy weren't too happy about it.
Any advise on the best way to cope with this?

Anyway please wish me luck that I don't flare between now and the wedding.

Hope you are all well.

Hi Aussiegirl,
You have some beautiful children. Just remember to take care of yourself while preparing and while there. I forget myself to do this when I have a lot to do. It is harder yet when you are with a group of people who are running around with lot's of activities. I have found the most important thing for me to do and that is to stay with my stretching routine or I wind up like a cement statue in terrible pain. You just have to be firm and remove yourself sometime's to get some stretching done.

The beach sound's beautiful but tricky. I have to wear my tennis shoe's with my orthotic's on the beach. I have found some Adida sandle's that look similar to flip flop's but they have a wonderful gel cushion that provide's great support. You do what is the most comfortable and they should understand.

I went to a friend's wedding a month ago and we had to stay overnight and I felt like I packed an ocean liner trunk just for all of the thing's I needed. Do you have any pain patches i.e. 'Flector' or 'Lidoderm'? That really help's on the S.I. joint's for me and I have notice that it help's other's.

Pace yourself and have a wonderful time. Let us know how you fared and what you did that helped.

Hi Aussiegirl,

If you're in pain, how about a high stool you can sit/lean on during the ceremony? You can stand at the beginning, but once everyone's eyes are on the bride and groom you can cheat a little bit. I know standing in the same place is one of the worst things for me. I'd rather walk for an hour than stand for an hour. I'm sure no one would mind, and your sister is just happy to have you there.

Just remember that the important thing is doing the best that YOU can. And like Pea said, make sure you make some time for yourself to relax.

Have a great time at the wedding!

It does sound like a beautiful wedding. Can you call your Dr. and ask for a short course of a steroid, just to help you get over the wedding. I find that just a few days on pred can make a world of difference.

Hope you enjoy the wedding without too much pain. Only thing I can think of is a short course of prednisone too. What medicine works best for you? I tried mobic and liked it, but I am not currently taking it, I am trying Humira, it is only my 3rd week though, so I am trying to be patient while I wait for it to kick in.
Take care,
Sheri

Diet change has improved my RA. I feel best eating raw veggies and some fruits and avoiding grains, sugars, nightshades, beans and dairy. Sed rate dropped from 65 to 19, but it took over a year.

I did a short course of prednisolone to get me through the few days around my mothers 80th birthday celebrations and it really did help.

Hi all.
Well the wedding is now only days away. I could do a short course of prednisone, I have some in the cupboard. Not that anything realy helps much at all. Not usually worth the trouble taking it but hey anything is better than nothing.

So stressed and realy over it all at the moment. Doesn't help that I am not eating much at all. Fell horrible about the way I look and no matter how much I do it is not enough for some.
My sister is realy greatful though.

I finished the bouquets and the foot jewelry just have the place cards with chocolate hearts and wish bone to finnish.
And after going out with the photographer I just have to convince my sister to turn the wedding arround if she wants any photos where she can actually be seen and not just a black figure with no features.

To top it all off weather report says that we will be in for a cold snap and back to low temps that we had in winter, starting the day of the wedding. Just what I need NOT!!
I guess I will just have to drink more at least I will feel warmer and the pain won't seem as bad.lol Naughty me I know.

Fingers crossed it doesn't rain.
Will post a pic when it's all over.

All the best.

You can do it! And you are a truly awesome sister for all you are doing. I have no doubt the wedding day will be beautiful and a joyous day for your sister. Also, I have a feeling that if it is as cold as you fear, your utter determination to have it warm will influence the temperatures. I don't think even the weather could withstand that!

Just remember to take care of you, OK?

Warm hugs,

Kat
