If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Was persuaded by the ever lovely Diane to visit erstwhile family member who is presently a guest of the state. (Most likely Bruno's fault) So making spontaneous 7 hours trak up to St Lawrence River ares by Alexandria Bay NY,
Going to try to endure the ride. Been a long time since I did tha tmuch driving in such a short span usually 5 hours is enough fo rme and recently those five hour trips have left me without much discomfort.
Trying to create silver lining and find a nice place to stay for a short spell before the visit tomorrow afternoon. Actually not dreading the car ride just ..... cautious.

Steve, Personally being a little grouchy when you get there might make you fit in a little better. Being to sensitive while visiting the "erstwhile family member" may not be in YOUR BEST INTEREST. BE SAFE, STRETCH WHEN you need it. Remember to take all your knives, pistol-as, ropes, razor blades, explosives, dental floss, drugs, and rubber bands our of your pockets. I usually just visit in my speed o so that I do not trigger the metal detector..
Love ya bro.

7 hours is a gong time to be driving or riding. Is there any way you could split it up and stay at a nice hotel over night? At least, find a nice park or somewhere nice like that where you can stretch, walk around and perhaps spread out a blanket under a tree and take a nap?

Love you to Bro LOn
Your advice hits home more than you can think. And I mean the advice about bringing knives, guns, razor blades...
One day if the lovely Diane permits me I will relate the story of her scariest momoment which now in hindsight is funny but at that moment was rather frightful.
As for the erstwhile character, seeing him will do him some good and that's gotta be a good thing. I just hate to spend one of my precious summer weekends with the girls away form them. Summers are too short, especially during these years when the kids are such a joy to be around.

Hey DOnna,
YOur suggested way is how I would normally try to do it. Unfortunately my Mom is going to wathc the girls and my Dad's Parkinson's is getting worse so she can really only juggle it for one night. The girls are easy and acutally energize my Mom but he responds poorly to folks in the house.
So we drop them off in NY at about 8 am tomorrow and then if we drive straight through won't hit our destination until about 3 PM gives us enough time to find a hotel and stretchour legs somewhere hopefully nice for a spell. Take a walk together and then eat. Some sleep and a visit the next mornign from 9 am till 1 and back on the road for the trek south to be hoome with a stop by 9PM or else I would be driving up right now with lots of stips.

good luck with the trip! i don't envy the getting there part, even 1 hour trips set off my neck/upper back something awful. but, once you make it there.......
i had a research student from alex bay. he kept trying to get my husband and me to visit the area. finally bought me a picture book of the region. it is beautiful up there, so hope you can enjoy it once you arrive. if you have the chance, take a boat tour around the islands.
can you take an old fashioned ice bag with ice in it and to fill at the hotel? ice makes trips much more doable for me. i have insulated ones that allows the ice to last a long time.

The ice bag is a good idea. Most fast food places will fill it up with ice for you. Having an ice chest is useful to keep snacks and cold drinks in. We don't go very far without taking our ice chest and lot of ice cubes, frozen bottled water and cold packs.

Most fast food places will fill it up with ice for you. yes donna, that's where i've gotten most of my ice refills. both on the road and in airports (since you can't take ice through the detectors). people have always been very accommodating.

Survived. From 8 am Saturday until 8PM Sunday spent 16 hours in car 2 hours on ferry 4 hours sitting with erstwhile soul in woefully uncomfortable chair with too much a/c beating down on me
Much of the rest of it wondering how dumb I can be. At present not much damage. WOn't do that again for a very long long time
