I have a reputation an offensive poster. Take it as a given. Sorry 'bout that. I am one of life's less delicate souls.

So just let me say that this beautiful disease, which is a lot better then many others, has me again awake in the middle of the night. I think I may have got 4 hours before brother pain put the hammer down.So here I am, at the computer, dah dah....praising the Lord in his generosity and enjoying the silence of the night. Give's us a lot of free time this disease, one way to look at it.

Anyway, sorry to all those I offended by raising confortable and other end of life strategies. I am sure we will have complete control over, and completely good care as we slip into our respective health systems. They are after all there to look after us (anko what???)
I know we are all afraid of the word death. And i do respect that, so I won't ever say it again. Death, that is.... crazy

Now I have a heatpack and some quiet reading time. The joy.

You wouldn't be the only one who gets to enjoy the silence of the night. I do find I can get quite a lot done in the middle of the night when I am up and awake, and four hours is about all I can stay asleep for at the moment. Does make it a bit hard to function well during the day though. Its also a pity that being able to enjoy that quiet night time is for all the wrong reasons (pain, stiffness, inability to sleep, etc).

When I take cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxer), not even a wrecking ball through my bedroom wall could wake me up.

I do believe there are some side effects of it though. I think it is harder to wake up in the a.m.(obviously wink ) And it seemed my muscles were a bit sore throughout the day, and that went away when I stopped taking it.

I will say the trade-offs were worth it when I was it the throws of a flare though. Sleep is so important.

Good luck to you. Way to see the bright side of a sleepless night!! Good on ya! lol.

Hello Scotty,

Hope you could enjoy your reading. I have been there not being able to sleep due to pain. Hopefully you are doing better now.

Tim

Oh boy, sad that most of us can relate to sleep issues. I've had problems getting to sleep and staying asleep forever.

Am most recently using Natural Calm (magnesium) and it seems to help. Though once in a while it might help to throw 3mg of melatonin in just for good measure.

But I also read something that seemed to help shift my thinking process a bit. Read about biphasic sleep here. Not a cure-all but I know that it helps me a bit. Now when I wake up I try not to lay there and get more and more pissed off about not being able to sleep, I'll get up and try to get some reading or writing done. Try to limit lights to candles, but will try something productive none the less.

Nothing much works when I wake up due to pain. Understand the morbid tendencies when that happens and it's all we can do to ride it out.

think i discovered this by accident when i accidentally fell asleep in our recliner more often than not for 3-4 hours. would wake up, finish the work i was doing when i fell asleep. then go to bed for another 3-4 hours. i wondered if this was ok for my metabolism cause my body (the musculoskeletal part actual started feeling better than 7 hours straight in bed. good to see that it might be better for me than i realized. smile
